The writer, a native of Llanboidy, subsequently held pastorates at Erwood, Brecknockshire, New Wells, near Newtown, Montgomeryshire, Cradley, Worcestershire, Tondu, Glamorgan, and Colmore Row, Birmingham.

The diary, 1812-1815, of the Reverend Edward Jones, Wesleyan Methodist minister [see Bathafarn, 18 (1963)], consisting mainly of brief references to his preaching commitments and reflections on his spiritual condition. The volume appears to be the second in a series of three, the first (1808-1812) and third (1815-1820) of which have vanished but extracts from which, together with an autobiographical account of his life up until 1808, were published in Yr Eurgrawn Wesleaidd, 14 (1822).

Pocket diaries of the Reverend John Jenkins (1779-1853, DWB), Baptist minister at Hengoed, co. Glamorgan, 1809-1853, author, editor and publisher. The diaries run from 1819 to 1853 with gaps for 1820-1821, 1824, 1832, 1834 (covers only remaining) and 1847; many are incomplete, with two leaves only extant for 1819, the period 1 January - 13 February only for 1841 and September - December only for 1826 and 1848. The brief entries, in Welsh, record preaching engagements and sermon texts, and other details in connection with John Jenkins's ministry; there are also references to his writings, notably his Esponiad, to his printing and publishing work, to the sale of his publications, and to his sons Titus Jenkins, Baptist minister, John Jenkins, missionary, and Llewelyn Jenkins, publisher. The diaries for 1829 and 1830 contain references to the building of a new place of worship at Hengoed. Also included are personal accounts and others relating to the publication and sale of books.
