A. E. Housman, A Shropshire lad
Part of Gwasg Gregynog Archive
Copy and correspondence relating to a projected edition of a selection of about seven poems from A. E. Housman's 'A Shropshire lad', with Welsh translations [by J. T. Jones] on the facing page, and wood-engravings or vignettes by Sarah Van Niekerk. Also copy for 'Between Severn and Wye: poems selected by Meic Stephens'. The Housman project was abandoned on realising that 'A Shropshire lad' remained in copyright until the end of 1986, in favour of 'Between Severn and Wye', an anthology of poems about the Border country, including Housman, but also abandoned. Also an exchange between Glyn Tegai Hughes and Meic Stephens about the worth of modern Anglo-Welsh poets.
