The Mahllat of Phulwari are the jagir of my brother Nawab Najm al-Din Ali Khan. Your army is at present encamped in his estate. I received your reply to my letter as well another letter from you. It was agreed and implemented that the defeated forces [runaways] did not have enough force left to return to this place and that they would return the way they had arrived here. Whatever way they decide to go they will go before our victorious forces reach there. As Raja Chatar Dhari Singh has arrived here for paying his respect, and it is necessary that he does this, it is not advisable that you take the journey and reach here by rapid and long distance coaches. Therefore, I suggest that you let me know the name of the place you are staying at present so that I reach there to meet you. I will do whatever we decide among ourselves during this meeting

As I was not getting detailed and correct information, I have appointed Mansa Ram a Harkarah (informer / news collector) and I have sent him to bring detailed information about their whereabouts. I have asked him to inform us immediately if the Dutch were getting ready to cause any disturbances

We have been informed that you have appointed your own men at the Police Station of Nakhora / Bakhoda without informing me about this. I am rather surprised at this action. Our friendship and understanding requires that you inform us before taking any such decisions. Similarly there is a force of fifteen hundred men gathered at Chor Charha. It will be appropriate that you reach there and punish them for this violation. Any violation of this order is not acceptable. We will be waiting for your reply

Thank you very much for your letter of 19 RabiI, reg. yr. 6 received here on Thursday, 23 Rabi I informing me about the latest developments. I have also read the contents of the letter you had received from the Nawab Sahib and a copy of which you had enclosed with the above letter. I will be leaving this place tomorrow, Friday. You can imagine that as soon as I reach my destination the war will start. Therefore I am sending Lahori Beg to you so that you could instruct him about the strategy of war we should follow. Also please send Mr Hastings so that he could direct the conduct of the war. You have asked me to enquire the wishes of people at Qasimbazar. I do not wish to delay this war and would like to wipe out the troublemakers as soon as possible. I urgently need reports of events from the surrounding areas. Enclosure: Copy of a parvanah sent to the Director of Trade of the Dutch East India Company at Chochrah. I have received instructions from the Nawab Sahib which have the approval of Nawab Sabitjang Bahadur [Clive] that you should cease trading herewith and that I should take the inhabitants of your kothi in custody and that you should return with your ships and armies back to your country. I hope we can achieve all this with your consent and agreement. This will greatly please the Nawab and his associates. Nawab Sabitjang has also emphasised that we will not tolerate any resistance or trouble in this respect. It is therefore in your interest that we can achieve this in a peaceful manner

Following your wishes I marched from Murshidabad on 25 RabiI, reg. yr. 6 and have reached Kathliya today, 29 instant. I will stay here for one day so that my army also arrives here. At present I do not intend to return and I wait for your instructions. From your intentions I suspect that there may be some troublemakers who may be inciting you against me. I intend to clear the problem of Khochra and after leaving my forces there I will come and see you alone. I am sure I will be able to convince you about the sincerity of my friendship and the evil designs of the troublemakers and will be able to remind you that previously I had asked you [ansahib] to hand over these troublemakers as they had not left any stone unturned to sow seeds of enmity between me, you and the Nawab. God willing, they will all be disappointed. When you [ansahib] return to Calcutta I will, after destroying Khochara, send you five cannons and one cannon of Haqqyan with their fuses and artillerymen. God willing, all your enemies will be killed and you will enjoy victory. And you will be convinced of my loyalty and sincerity and you will be able to hand over the troublemakers to me so that no one else in future creates any ill feeling among us.
