Seventeen cards (ff. 1-5) and letters (ff. 6-17), 1944-1945, being mainly love letters, from the novelist Richard Llewellyn to Sarah Steinman (later Mrs Sarah Steinman Harms). They were written while he was serving in Italy as a captain in the Welsh Guards and she with the American Red Cross in Rome.
Some of the letters are typescript (ff. 9-13, 15, 17) and several contain ink sketches (ff. 2 verso, 4 verso, 9, 11, 12 recto-verso). There are two letters of introduction of friends of his to Steinman (ff. 14, 16). One letter, postmark 6 May 1945 (f. 13), contains news, including an account of a V2 bomb attack near his home in London.

The letters were sent from the Dorchester Hotel, London, [?1963] (ff. 1-2), Sardinia, 1967 (ff. 3-4), Budapest, 1972 (ff. 5-10), and Munich, 1972 (ff. 11-12). Also included are letters to Burgess from Lord Snowdon, 18 May 1973 (f. 13), and Sir John Gielgud, 15 October 1979 (f. 15), and a photocopy of a telegram from Elizabeth Burton, 4 November 1975 (f. 14), inviting Burgess and his wife to Richard Burton's fiftieth birthday party. There are references to the films Becket (1964) (ff. 1-2), Doctor Faustus (1967) (ff. 3-4), Where Eagles Dare (1968) (f. 7), Bluebeard (ff. 5-10) and Massacre in Rome (ff. 11-12), and to the actor Hugh Griffith (f. 8)

Manuscripts, 1707-[1937], from the library of Richard Bennett of Llanbrynmair and Caersws, Montgomeryshire, much of which is in the hand of Richard Bennett himself. The collection comprises material largely of Montgomeryshire interest and includes parochial records, transcripts from parish registers, extracts from probate records (some of Merionethshire interest) and genealogical records, and extracts from printed works relating to Montgomeryshire.
