Proof copy, 1939, of Richard Llewellyn's How Green Was My Valley (London: Michael Joseph, 1939), containing corrections and revisions by the author and signed by him on the title page, July 1939 (p. 3).
The authorial emendations to the text, in light and dark blue ink and blue pencil, include changes to some personal names and place names and minor corrections to punctuation (pp. 21-649 passim). In a different editorial hand are a 'Note for printer', concerning the changes to character names (p. 2), alterations to the layout of the title page (p. 3) and notes concerning the 'Guide to Pronunciation', which was to be added subsequently (pp. 2, 652). There are further proof correction marks and emendations in pencil and red ink by the copy editor(s), some initialled and dated 10-14 August 1939, and various stamps of the Composing Department, printers, etc. (front cover and pp. 1, 3, 5).
