The manuscript also includes memoranda correspondence, 1863-5, between David Evans, William Morris ('Gwilym Tawe'), secretary of Swansea [National] Eisteddfod (1863), [Morris Williams] ('Nicander'), and John Griffiths, rector of Neath, relating to the inability of David Evans to recover a 'Casgliad ... o Draddodiadau Gwirebau a Diarhebion Cymreig' submitted for competition at the Swansea Eisteddfod; and a catechism or play entitled 'Gwyddorydd neu Holwyddoreg Anudonaidd. A holwyd ac a Attebwyd yn ysgoldy Gonestrwydd Ar ol Alban Hefin'. Inset are a photograph of David Evans and his memorial card, 1883 (died 4 August, buried 8 August).

'Ode to Charity', a translation into English [by Ebenezer Thomas ('Eben Fardd')] of the 'awdl' on the subject 'Elusengarwch' by David Owen ('Dewi Wyn o Eifion'). The translator's name is not given but a note at the top of the first page reads 'Rec'd a Sovereign from J. Maughan Esqr. for Translating this'. There are some notes and emendations in pencil in another hand. On the last page, following the translation, are thirty-eight lines of an elegy in Welsh, (?) incomplete, on the death of [Frederick, Duke of York]. Pasted in at the beginning is a press cutting headed 'Darlith i'r Saeson. Araeth Mr Lloyd George. Bywyd a Barddoniaeth Cymru' giving an account of an address Lloyd George gave as chairman of a concert at Llanystumdwy.

A manuscript.volume (28 ff.) containing poetical compositions ('englynion', 'penillion', hymns and carols, etc.) almost entirely by Hugh Evans ('Hywel Eryri' or 'Hugh Eryri' [?1764-1847]), some dated 1827-8 and 1842-3. It seems doubtful whether the volume is in his autograph as an englyn at the end by Morris Roberts, Melin Llanllyfni, dated 22 June 1847, is headed 'Englyn a gyfansoddwyd ar yr achlysur gladdu yr oedranus Fardd "Hywel Eryri".' A page or pages are missing at both the beginning and the end of the volume.

Cwrt-mawr MS 466B], some dated 1826-8 (26 pp., repaired, incomplete); transcripts in various hands of poetry by [Thomas Williams] 'Twm Pedrog' (torn) and of a cywydd by Dafydd Nanmor; 'Duhuddiant i Eben Fardd a'i deulu ar farwolaeth ei eneth ieuangaf - Elizabeth, Medi - 1858' by [Robert Hughes] 'Robyn Wyn' (?holograph); transcripts of poetical compositions by [Evan Pritchard] 'Ieuan Llyn' or 'Ieuan ap Rhisiart'; part of an exercise-book bearing the names of R. Prys Morris, Dolgelley and Myrddin Fardd, Chwilog; and fragments including pedigrees of Bod Ilan (Llanvihangel y Pennant), Y Plas yngheiswyn (Talyllyn), Ynys y Maengwyn ynhowyn Meirionydd and Pughe of Mathafarn, taken from Lewis Dwnn.

A volume made up of fourteen letters, 1819-1851, from John Jones (Tegid or Ioan Tegid, 1792-1852), Oxford and later Nevern, to various correspondents. The details are as follows: six letters, 1819-1826, to the Rev. Thomas Richards, Berriew (the education of the addressee's brother and of E. Evans [probably 'Ieuan Glan Geirionydd'], a 'cywydd' on the death of Mrs Bosanquet, literary matters, adverse criticism from the bishop of Llandaff [William van Mildert] of a proof-sheet of the edition of the Welsh Prayer Book which the writer had undertaken to superintend); four letters, 1820-1824, to the Rev. David Richards, Llansilin (the education of the addressee's younger brother [Lewis], literary matters, the addressee's marriage, etc.); one letter, 1839, to Miss Angharad Lloyd [sic] (the Liber Landavensis is now in the press, he has completed his Welsh version of Isaiah direct from the Hebrew); one letter, 1846, to Owen Williams, Waenfawr (literary matters, criticism of the addressee's proposed 'Vocabulary'); one letter, 1851, to [Ebenezer Thomas] Eben Fardd (re. adjudicating the 'pryddestau' on 'Golygfa Moses &c'); and one letter, 1850, to the Rev. Richard Richards [Meifod] (he is glad to hear of the addressee's success, a proposed monument to Bishop William Morgan and the Rev. Walter Davies (Gwallter Mechain) at Llanrhaiadr yn Mochnant, plans for a commentary in Welsh on the Epistle to the Galatians etc.). Also included in the volume are extracts, 1845, from a manuscript of Rowland Hugh 'o'r Graienyn ger y Bala' ('Brawd Nain Ioan Tegid o du ei fam oedd Rowland Hugh'), transcripts of two letters, the originals of which are to be found in Peniarth MS 11, viz. a letter, 1847, from [John Jones] Tegid, Nevern to the Lady Charlotte E. Guest and a letter, 1860, from Tho[ma]s Stephens, Merthyr Tydfil to W. W. E. Wynne, Esq., and an outline of 'Tegid's Feet [shoes] drawn at the Vicarage Darowen at the request of ?M. D. Jones, Darowen, 1836'.

A volume containing englynion and other poems mainly by Robert Davies (Bardd Nantglyn). Pages 1-60 are almost entirely in the hand of Robert Davies while the remainder of the volume is in that of William Owen [-Pughe]. In addition to the works of Robert Davies, some of which were published in his Diliau Barddas (Dinbych, 1827), the following poets are represented in the volume: W.O. [?William Owen-Pughe] (pp. 2-3), R. B. Clough (p. 86), W. Lleyn (p. 102), and ?Gwallter Mechain, [Walter Davies] (p. 125). An uncovered home-made notebook of Morris Davies, Portmadoc (afterwards of Bangor) containing a synopsis of an essay on the topography of the Bible ('Daiaryddiaeth Ysgrythyrol') and a catechism ('Holwyddoreg') in verse by R. D. M. (published in Cronicl yr Oes, Ebrill 1836). The volume is made up of holograph letters, of which some are addressed, and probably all are written, to Morris Davies from D. Breese, Pwllheli, 1841 (a request for assistance for Mr. Row[lands]), Dav[id] W. Breese, Bron Eryri, etc., 1844 and undated (2) (the writer's journey to Carmarthen, personal, an offer to sell his 'Chambers's Information' [for the People] to the Portmadoc Reading Society), Messrs Parry & Son, Chester, [18]46 (an order by the recipient), J. Williams, T. Bwlch, [? John Williams, Tu hwnt i'r bwlch] undated (thanks for an account, a request for assistance), John Jones, Tremadoc, 1845-7 (2) (a request to cancel a preaching service, a request for the services of a preacher) and Griff. Jones, P[ort] Madoc, undated (2) (a request for letters to be sent, personal, suggests recipient cancels the afternoon school to go to Penmorfa fair to see his cousin and as many of the Guardians as would be there); a statement of quarterly tuition fees due from H. Hughes, in respect of Love Hughes and Llewelyn Hughes, to the Committee of the Tre and Port Madoc British School, 1846-7; twelve verses by 'Yr hen gyfaill' entitled 'Deuddeg Penill ar Farwolaeth Mr Morris Davies' (1876).

A composite volume containing pedigrees in the autograph of Ebenezer Thomas (Eben Fardd; 1802-1863). There are two main sections, both indexed: (A) 'Llyfr Achau amryw Deuluoedd yn Neheubarth a Gwynedd. Adysgrifiwyd genyf fi Ebenezer Thomas 1843'; (B) 'Several of the Carnarfonshire Pedigrees with some others. Copied by Ebenezer Thomas from accredited Authorities 1846', with some later additions by 'Eben Fardd' and one or two loose papers, not all in his hand. Inserted between pp. 74 and 75 in the first section are verses 'On the proposed Restoration of Clynnog Church by the "Archeological Association", 1847 ...' by 'Ebenezer Thomas, Bard; Clynnog Vawr'. At the end of the volume preceding some blank leaves are seven folios, the first of which is headed 'A Next of Kin Investigation' (concerning Erasmus Lloyd). These contain a pedigree of the descendants of Allan Lloyd of Freystrop, Pembrokeshire, exhibited by (?)Erasmus Thomas, Penygelli near Carnarvon and copied by E[benezer Thomas], 29 May 1843, at the Crown & Anchor, Carnarvon, genealogical notes concerning the Lloyds of Penamser, [Ynyscynhaearn], extracts relating to legal actions, 1843, involving the Tremadoc Estate, 'The Family Register of Ebenezer Thomas of Clynnog', lines entitled 'On the Death of my Mother' composed by Ebenezer Thomas 'after his beloved mother who died March 12: 1821', and a pedigree chart, with notes, showing the descent of Ebenezer Thomas through his maternal grandmother from the Lloyds of Penamser. The volume has been annotated here and there by John Jones (Myrddin Fardd).

The contents include items of poetry by Eben Fardd, pedigrees (one outlining the descent of Thomas Jerman Jones, 'my Pupil 1859'), two sketches ('The Cwmgwara Plantation' and 'my Birthplace'), a list of poetical compositions by Eben Fardd, 1819-39 (damaged), 'Analysis of Farmed Tenements in the Parish of Clynnog', notes on place names in the parish of Clynnog, a sketch map entitled 'A rough Delineation of the Parish of Clynnog fawr, showing very nearly the boundaries of its ancient 4 Villes' and another sketch map showing the Llanaelhaearn - Llangybi area, 'Annerchiad i Eben Vardd, ar Farwolaeth ei Anwyl Briod' by [Robert Hughes] 'Robyn Wyn' and 'englynion' entitled 'Annerchiad i Ebenezer Thomas' by Griffith Roberts, notes of a sermon by the Reverend W[illia]m Roberts, 1853, accounts relating to Cwm & Monachdy Manganese, 1841-2, and an early composition by Eben Fardd entitled 'Dyrnodiau ar bedair cadwyn ar hugain sy'n dal Meddyliau Beirdd Cymru yn gaeth yn Ngharchardy Cerdd Dafod'. Then follows a notebook labelled 'The Aberffraw Royal Eisteddfod MDCCCLIX [sic, for 1849 (MDCCCXLIX)]. The Judges' Controversy &c.,' originally containing outlines of one or two legal documents and a copy of a stamp bond, 1848, and subsequently used to contain press cuttings, etc. relating to the controversy which followed the adjudication of the poetical compositions at the Aberffraw Eisteddfod. There are also some transcripts by Eben Fardd and a holograph letter, 21 January 1850, from [John Jones] 'Talhaiarn', London to Eben Fardd. Preceding the blank pages at the end of the volume are some miscellaneous press cuttings and one or two items in the autograph of John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd '). Some of the material, including an advertisement for a literary meeting at Clynnog Fawr, 1859, has been pasted on to the pages.

They contain miscellaneous 'englynion'; 'Rhiangerdd' composed for the Cemaes, Anglesey, Eisteddfod, 1870; 'pryddest: Crefydd, sef testyn cadair Eisteddfod Gadeiriol Eryri, 1879'; an elegy upon the death of Thomas Aubrey by Owen Lloyd; 'Pryddest: Marwolaeth Samson', 1872 'Pryddest: Rhyfeloedd y Groes'; verses: 'Melys yw hun y gweithiwr', 1872; 'Pryddest: Y Beibl'; 'awdl: Ffrwyth myfyrdod ar wlad Canan'; and a fragment of a poem entitled 'Elias ar ben Carmel'.

An album compiled by John Lloyd James ('Clwydwenfro'), Congregational minister at March, Cambridgeshire, etc. The volume is almost wholly of Congregational interest, and relates for the most part to Glandwr Church, Pembrokeshire, and to the activities of John Davies ('Siôn Gymro' otherwise 'Siôn Llethi' otherwise 'Ioan Llethi'), who was ordained minister of the church in 1827.
