The Dewi-Prys Thomas Trust was established in 1990 to celebrate the life of Welsh architect and academic Dewi- Prys Thomas (1916-1985). The Trust's website states that it 'promote[s] excellence in architecture, town planning, civic design, landscape design and other creative disciplines that contribute to the quality of life, identity and regeneration of Wales', and that it 'welcome[s] collaboration and engagement with other like-minded organisations in furtherance of this aim.' The Liverpool-born Welsh architect and academic Dewi-Prys Thomas (1916-1985) was the first Professor of Architecture at what is now the University of Wales, Cardiff and was also head of its Welsh School of Architecture, where he instituted a new Department of Town Planning.
