History

The Dewi-Prys Thomas Trust was established in 1990 to celebrate the life of Welsh architect and academic Dewi- Prys Thomas (1916-1985). The Trust's website states that it 'promote[s] excellence in architecture, town planning, civic design, landscape design and other creative disciplines that contribute to the quality of life, identity and regeneration of Wales', and that it 'welcome[s] collaboration and engagement with other like-minded organisations in furtherance of this aim.' (http://www.dewi-prysthomas.org/index-en.html)
The triennial Dewi-Prys Thomas Prize is awarded by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) in recognition of 'the importance of good design to the quality of life, identity and regeneration of Wales'. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dewi-Prys_Thomas)

The Liverpool-born Welsh architect and academic Dewi-Prys Thomas (1916-1985) was the first Professor of Architecture at what is now the University of Wales, Cardiff and was also head of its Welsh School of Architecture, where he instituted a new Department of Town Planning.
