Writ Of Mandamus issued to John [Egerton] bishop of Durham, to command the Sheriff of co. Durham, to deliver to Thomas Brown and Caleb Whitfoord all the goods and chattles of Sir James Pennyman, bart, and a moiety of his tmt's and lands in the Sheriff's bailiwick, to hold as their freehold until they shall have fully levied the damages. Recites that T.B. and C.W. by judgement of the Court at Westminster recovered against Sir James Pennyman, £306 damages; that the Sheriff of Middlesex had returned that Sir James had no goods or chattles in his Bailiwick to pay debts; that Sir James has sufficient goods and lands within the Bishopric of Durham to pay damages.
