History

The Workers' Educational Association was founded in 1903 as an adult education charity, and its North Wales Branch (also sometimes known as a District) was established in 1925, notably through the efforts of Robert Silyn Roberts, whose daughter, Mary, also worked for the Association for many years. The North Wales Branch merged with Coleg Harlech in 2001, and since 2015 (after several further mergers) they have been part of Adult Learning Wales / Addysg Oedolion Cymru.
