The District Secretary's duties were manifold. All communications from the Board of Directors of the Unity had to pass through his hands, and all information which he received on behalf of the District had to be forwarded to the Lodges. The Secretary had supervisory control of Lodge secretaries. He had to attend all District and District committee meetings; to forward to each Lodge an account of their dues, arrears and fines, to keep an account of each separate fund; to produce to each District meeting a statement of the receipts and disbursements since the previous meeting which, with the resolutions carried, had to be forwarded to all Lodges. The Secretary also had custody of the register of members. All sums of money payable to the District had to be paid to the Secretary unless other provision had been made for such payments in the District Special Rules. If the Secretary was in receipt of District monies then he had to pay such monies either to the District Treasurer or to the District's bank account.
