The catalogued material comprises two groups of deeds and other documents relating to lands of the Bodwenni and Syrior estates in Merionethshire, Denbighshire and Montgomeryshire, and to the Roberts, Williams and Evans families of Bodwenni and Syrior, [13th century]-1833; miscellaneous literary manuscripts, [16th century]-[19th cenury]; and printed material. Uncatalogued material includes deeds, family papers and correspondence, 1609-1953.

Title deeds relating to the Briton Ferry estate, 1627-1879, mainly in the parishes of Aberavon, Baglan, Briton Ferry, Llantwit-iuxta-Neath, Llansamlet, Michaelstone, Glamorganshire, together with probate records, marriage settlements, etc.

The papers comprise correspondence files, 1918-1982, among them general and political letters to Goronwy Roberts and constituency correspondence; subject files, 1913-1981, including papers concerning foreign affairs (some deriving from Goronwy Roberts's trips abroad), domestic politics, Welsh politics and matters relating to Wales, and files of material concerning Caernarfonshire; various personalia, 1918-1982; and miscellaneous papers, 1900-1997, including printed items and press cuttings.

The papers donated by Lord Cledwyn of Penrhos in five groups between 1990 and 1997 comprise Lord Cledwyn's diaries, 1970-1978; his engagement diaries, 1966-1984; general correspondence files, 1956-1997; subject files, 1958-1997, including papers relating to Welsh affairs, 1962-1997, and to the Parliamentary Labour Party, 1968-1979; constituency papers, 1955-1996; speech notes, 1952-1979; and printed matter, 1945-1997. They include a group of papers of Sir William Williams ('Speaker Williams', 1634-1700), papers of John Williams (1700-87), attorney-general of the Chester Circuit and Chief Justice of the Brecon Circuit, and papers of John Roberts, Maes-y-porth ([1767]-1824), deputy registrar of the diocese of Bangor. The papers of Sir William Williams include personal papers and correspondence mainly relating to his purchase of the Llanforda estate, 1678-88; papers and correspondence re his offences and fine in scandalum magnatum against James II and the Earl of Peterborough, 1684-9; legal papers linked with his work, 1675-98; political papers and correspondence concerning parliamentary proceedings and the religious issues of the Stuart period, 1668-c. 1700; and printed political pamphlets and poetry, 1676-[1697x1700]. The papers of John Williams all relate to his legal work, c.1740 x c.1787. Canon Trevor Owen's own papers comprise deeds, mainly for lands in Denbigh, 1741-1883, and correspondence about a legal case, 1882-3. The papers of John Roberts comprise deeds, 1773-c. 1820, and correspondence, 1800-17, connnected with his work as deputy registrar of Bangor, and Maes y porth estate deeds, papers and correspondence, 1774-1827. The collection also contains deeds re premises in Neston, Cheshire, 1731-1802; and miscellaneous 18th-19th century papers.
