Deputation to Ireland,

A volume lettered on the upper cover 'The Honourable The Irish Society. Report of the Deputation to Ireland in the year 1844'. The contents consist of a manuscript copy of the report presented to the 'Honourable Society of the Governor and Assistants, London, of the New Plantation in Ulster', by the deputation delegated in June 1844, to visit the said plantation. The object of the deputation was to inquire into, and report upon, 'the state of the property, the condition of the Tenantry, and the particulars of the several Schools, and other Charities and Institutions, supported in whole, or in part, by Grants [from the Society]. The visitation was carried out, August - September 1844, and the report signed, 27 January 1845, by John Humphrey (Ald[erma]n, Governor), Wm. Jones (Deputy Governor), Wm. Lawrence, W. Hughes Hughes (Ald[erma]n), William Collingwood, and Thos. Henry Hall. According to an inscription on the title-page, this particular transcript was presented by the Society to the aforesaid Wm. Jones, by whom the actual report had been prepared.
