Other hands include Hugh Maurice (ff. 64-74) and Edward Williams ('Iolo Morganwg') (ff. 110v-11v). The prose includes texts relating to cerdd dant, copied mainly from 'Llyfr Rhobert ap Huw o Fodwigen' [BL Add. MS 14905]; 'Cato Cymraeg', 'Ystori y Llong Foel', 'Breuddwyd Paul Abostol' and other texts, 'o Lyfr Mr Thomas or Gest yn Eifionydd Mehefin 1777' [Richard Thomas (1753-80)] (ff. 14-33); 'Y Diharebion Cymraeg' (ff. 66-79); 'Y Pedwar Brenin ar ugain o'r Brytaniaid ... allan o Lyfr Havod Uchdrud' [? Havod MS 5] (ff. 112-23); and 'Llyma val y descennodd Pendevigaeth Gymru yn oes Vaelgwyn Gwynedd ...' 'Tomas Wiliams o drevriw allan o hen vemrwn a gawsei y cof hwnn' [NLW MS 16962] (ff. 131v-6). The verse includes 'Casgliad o Benillion o waith Anonymows', collected by William Jones, Llangadfan (ff. 79v-110). Tipped into the volume are a list of contents compiled by Griffith Hugh Jones ('Gutyn Arfon'), a note on the above collection of penillion, and two letters to 'Gutyn Arfon' from O. M. Edwards, 1900 (f. v), and Robert David Rowland ('Anthropos'), 1903.

Records of the Welsh estate of the Crosse family of Shaw Hill, Lancashire, comprising records of the Thelwall family of Nantclwyd, Bathafarn Park and Plas Coch, Denbighshire, and of the associated families of Parry of Nantclwyd and Ruthin, Gethin of Cernioge, and Kenrick of Woore, Shropshire, London, and Chester, all of whose estates the Crosse family appears to have acquired. The archive includes Civil War papers, 1642-1644, illustrating some of the activities of the sheriff of Denbighshire- John Thelwall of Plas Coch- and of the Commissioners of Array between November 1642, and April 1644, letters, mainly 17-18 cent., and deeds and miscellaneous documents, 1441-1796, relating mainly to Parry and Thelwall estates in Denbighshire.

Collectively called the Crosswood Manuscripts after their Montgomeryshire home, this collection consists of three groups of manuscripts known as the Walter Davies (Gwallter Mechain) Manuscripts, the John Jenkins (Ifor Ceri) Manuscripts, and the Frances Althea Trevor Manuscripts.
