History

Edmund Crosby Quiggin (1875-1920) was a Celtic scholar, born in Cheadle and educated at Cambridge. Between 1898 and 1900 he did research at the Universities of Greifswald and Leipzig, Germany. In 1909 the College in Cambridge founded for him the Munro Lectureship in Celtic. He served in World War I and died in 1920. Quiggin's Poems from the Book of the Dean of Lismore: With a Catalogue of the Book and Indexes, ed. by J. Fraser (Cambridge, 1937) was published posthumously.
