Twenty seven letters, 1784-1840, to Messrs Prothero, McDonnell and Prothero of Usk, co. Monmouth, solicitors (later McDonnell and Mostyn) from other Monmouthshire solicitors relating to routine legal business-conveyances, issue of writs, etc but including also a copy of a lease of the tithes of Llan-arth and Clytha, co. Monmouth 1771, 1784 (no 1) and letters, 1837 (nos. 25-6), relating to shares in the [Newport] Dock Company (NLW ex 1164). Papers, 1830-84, of Robert Lewis of Trefaes, Llangwyryfon, co. Card., comprising account books, 1830-48, containing details of rents received; receipts, 1854-65, mainly for income tax paid by his tenants in Aberystwyth and Llangwyryfon, but including also a receipt for the purchase of shares, 1866, in the Llanidloes Welsh Flannel, Tweed & Woolstapling Company Ltd; demand notices for payment of poor rates and water rates issued to his Aberystwyth tenants, [1870s-80s]; and notices, 1883-4, to his Aberystwyth agent to repair his properties in the said town (NLW ex 1165). Tune book, 1823-9, compiled by Juliana Isabella Mary Pennant (1808-42) of Penrhyn Castle, co. Caernarfon, first wife of Edward Gordon Douglas-Pennant, first baron Penrhyn of Llandegai, containing contemporarily fashionable music, mostly dances, a few songs (words in English, French and Italian). The only Welsh tune is 'Sweet Richard' (p. 19). Includes two nursery songs, 'Anthony Rowley' (p. 34) and 'Little Bo Peep' with words (p. 35). The sources are noted for some pieces, e.g. 'Llanidan ... 1826' (pp. 37 and 38), 'C. Ma C. St Petersburg ... 1829' (p. 69).
