Papers, 1956-2012, of the professional artist exhibiting association 56 Group Wales (formerly the 56 Group) which include publicity material (including catalogues and posters); printed publications; audio-visual footage; photographic print blocks; financial records; insurance papers; agendas and minutes of annual general meetings, extraordinary general meetings and Group meetings; and a voluminous correspondence, largely between the Group’s secretaries and its executive committee and other members, the Welsh Arts Council, exhibition venues, accountants and auditors, etc.

Papers, 1954-1975, of the Rev. R. M. Verity, Vicar of St Mary the Virgin in Fordingbridge, Hampshire, relating mainly to the funeral of Augustus John in November 1961 and the unveiling of the memorial to him in Fordingbridge in 1967.
The papers include letters to Verity from the John family, comprising eight letters and a postcard from Dorelia John, 1955-1969, four letters from Admiral Sir Caspar John, 1961-1967, one letter from Romilly John, 1969, and three Christmas cards and a telegram from Augustus and Dorelia, 1956-1958. Also included are Augustus John's burial certificate, Verity's notes for the memorial service [?and funeral] and printed material including catalogues, 1954, 1975, newspaper cuttings, 1954-1970, invitations, printed orders of service and a copy of the volume The Drawings of Augustus John, introd. by Stephen Longstreet (Alhambra, Calif., 1967).

Letters, 1955, addressed mainly to T. I. Ellis, relating to securing a knighthood for Dr T. H. Parry-Williams 'for his services to Wales', including letters from Goronwy [Roberts] and James Griffiths. [He was knighted in 1958].

A bookplate from a book presented by the National Library of Wales to the Education Department (Celtic Section) at Ruhleben Camp, Germany, 1915, for the use of Welsh civilian prisoners interned there.

A Book of Private Prayer used as a scrapbook, 1927-1944, by the Rev. B. G. Rees, Curate of Defynock (1934-36), Llangynwyd, Maesteg (1936-38), and Laleston (1938-44), and Rector of Llansannor (1944-48); the volume consists mostly of press cuttings and letters relating to his ordination and career and his column in the Bridgend Advertiser, with some syllabuses for his lecture courses at the Maesteg Unemployed Centre with the WEA and YMCA (45 ff.). Also included are proofs, [?1938], of W. H. Auden's twenty-seven sonnet sequence 'In Time of War', for publication in W. H. Auden and Christopher Isherwood, Journey to a War (London, 1939), pp. 259-285; the proofs contain a very few manuscript emendations by the author and suggested titles for some of the sonnets and were given to Rees by Auden (see Auden's letter, NLW MS 24059E, f. 2) (6 ff.).

Also a variety of facts and experiments, and descriptions concerning the Hot-Water system, as applied to horticultural and other purposes; showing the causes and remedies in occasional failures, and the advantages of hot- water for producing a slow, safe, and continuous effect, while the warming by steam is sudden, hazardous, and intermittent. Included are holograph copies of three articles by him, 'The Influence of the newspaper on the world', 'Christ, the remedy for Christlessness', and 'Love and law'; a holograph copy of a lecture by him in Welsh, 'Y Boer yn ei wlad ei hun'; copies of his booklets Olion y Gwyriad (1898), and For what does our denomination stand (1894); a manuscript copy of a prize-winning elegy to him submitted at an eisteddfod at Clynderwen, 1905; and a cutting from Seren Gomer, 28 April 1905, containing a memorial poem to him.

Papers, 1715-[?mid 20 cent.], relating to the Wilson family of Bro[o]mhead, Hallamshire, near Sheffield, comprising nine letters, 1715-1717, addressed mainly to John Wilson (1672-1735), concerning various family news and a lawsuit; transcripts of the above letters, [?mid 20 cent.]; a copy, [19 cent.], of the Act of 1624 establishing the Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire; and papers of the amateur cricketer E. Rockley Wilson (1879-1957), 1918-1944, including letters, cards and receipts for cricket memorabilia purchased.

A register of briefs laid, 1714-1765, and a note of moneys collected thereon in the parish of Winterbourn Steepleton, Dorset, with notes of affidavits of burials in woollen, 1720-1756, and an abstract of the Act of Parliament for burying in woollen.
