Estate records, including deeds and documents, 1304-1887, relating to the estates of the Glynnes in Flintshire and elsewhere. Stephen Glynne, 1798-1824, Mary Glynne, afterwards Lady Lyttelton, 1824-1831, Stephen Richard Glynne, 1825-1874, and W. H. NLW Facsimiles.

  • GB 0210 NLWFACS
  • Fonds

This series of records includes photographs, photostats and photocopies. Much of the material consists of facsimiles of manuscripts and archives in other libraries and record offices. There is also, however, material of which the original is in private hands. A point to be reflected on is that the boundary between manuscripts and facsimiles has become very indistinct since the arrival of cheap copying machines and printers. While authors' typescripts or carbons have long been accepted as manuscripts, today a photocopy or print may have the same potential status as an author's holograph.
