Log book, 1810-1812 (watermarks 1807, 1809), of the sailing ship 'Lord Nelson', employed by the Admiralty transporting cargo including provisions, soldiers, horses and mules, mainly in connection with the Peninsular War, usually sailing in convoy and with Naval escorts.
The ship sailed from Deptford to Gibraltar, Dec. 1810-April 1811 (ff. 1-13); to Valetta, Messina and Cadiz, May-Oct. 1811 (ff. 15 verso-39); from Gibraltar to Portsmouth, Dec. 1811-Jan. 1812 (ff. 41 verso-50); then back to Gibraltar, Feb.-April 1812 (f. 52-61). She spent the remainder of 1812 in the Mediterranean, visiting Palma (Majorca), Mahón (Minorca), Alicante, Palermo and Messina (ff. 61-89). The volume also acts as a harbour log, recording extended stays at Valetta, May-Aug. 1811 (ff. 20 verso-25), Gibraltar, Oct.-Dec. 1811 (ff. 39-41) and Mahón, May-July 1812 (ff. 64-66). The volume is written in a hand resembling that of NLW MS 15462D.
Log book, 1804-1806 (watermarks 1801, 1802), of the sailing ship 'Liberty'.
The volume records voyages from London to Surinam, July-October 1804 (ff. 1-15 verso), and Surinam to London (via Cork), January-April 1805 (ff. 17 verso-34); from London to Jamaica (via Cowes, Madeira and Barbados; carrying 250 soldiers and their families), August-November 1805 (ff. 35 verso-55), and from Jamaica to London, February-May 1806 (ff. 56 verso-77). A note on f. 89 verso records an encounter on 28 April 1806 with HM Brig Raven (see also f. 72 verso). The volume is written in a hand resembling that of NLW MS 15463D.

A volume, 1875-1879, belonging to Thomas Hughes, Holyhead, containing a log of the barque 'Oswingo' (commanded by Captain A. Waycott), recording a voyage from Manilla to New York, September-November 1876 (ff. 1-33), and from New York towards Glasgow, December 1876 (ff. 37 verso-44).
The volume also contains scriptural catechisms in Welsh (ff. 46 verso-50 verso, 52 verso, 53 verso-58), shorthand exercises (ff. 59-65, 100 verso), notes on navigation (ff. 94 verso-98 verso) and miscellaneous prose and poetry in Welsh (ff. 81 verso, 82 verso, 83 verso, 91 verso-93 verso, 99 verso-100, 101).

Journal, 1834-1835 (watermark 1833), of the barque 'Amelia Matilda' of Liverpool, commanded by R. F. Jones, the journal kept by E[dward] F. Jones. The volume records a voyage from Liverpool to the Benin River, [Nigeria], September-November 1834 (ff. 3-21), and the return voyage, from Corisco, [Equatorial Guinea], to Liverpool, March-June 1835 (ff. 21 verso-47).
A letter, 22 October 1835, from John Mather, Bonny River, [Nigeria], to Edward Jones on board the barque 'Mansfield' at New Calabar, [Nigeria], and a receipt, 1832, are enclosed in an archival envelope (3 ff.).
