Written mainly in Welsh, they contain personal news, details of the writer's publications, references to contemporary Welsh scholars, and observations on political events in Wales. Also included is a letter, 1946, from his widow containing information concerning her husband's imprisonment by the Germans and subsequent death on 27 February 1945.
