Letters and accounts, 1821-1823, of Walter Churchey of Brecon, solicitor, relating to the Penoyre estate, co. Brecon, and forwarded by him to the owner, the Reverend Thomas Watkins (1761-1829), whilst the latter was on the Continent, together with two letters from Samuel Church of Brecon, solicitor (ff. 7r-v, 28v). The letters and accounts give detailed information concerning estate matters such as rents and rent arrears, the leasing of farms, tithes and repairs, and contain numerous references to local affairs and events. Notes on the volume, compiled by its previous owner Nigel Temple, have been tipped in at the front (ff. ii-xii).

On Cholera and Potato Disease

A volume, 1854 (watermarks 1853, 1854), containing fair copies of letters, dated 1849-1854, written by Joseph Jones, Caernarfon. The volume was compiled by him and presented to J. M. Davies, Frood Vale, Llandeilo, in July 1854. The letters concern Jones's theories on the causes of cholera and potato blight, attributed by him to agencies such as fermentation and the action of earthworms, as well as potential treatments and cures. There are frequent Biblical references, with extensive quotations on pp. 43-49, 75-76, and a few anecdotal references from his own experiences as a mine agent and flour merchant on Anglesey (pp. 5, 63-64).
The letters are addressed to Lord Ashley (later the Earl of Shaftesbury) of the General Board of Health, 1849-1853 (pp. 1-39, 42-50, 53-71), and Lord John Russell, the Prime Minister, 19 September 1851 (pp. 39-40); the final section is addressed to J. M. Davies, 19 July 1854 (pp. 72-82). Brief letters of acknowledgement (pp. 12, 19, 28, 41, 51, 71) and a list of contents are also included (p. i).

Box for Welsh Tract land indentures

Solander box in which the volume of Welsh Tract land indentures, now NLW MS 24209E, was housed when transferred to the National Library of Wales, retained as evidence of provenance and of the manuscript's previous condition.
Also retained with the box is a fragment of the old binding, together with copies of auction and bookseller's catalogue descriptions relating to the manuscript.

A memorandum book of the Reverend William Lloyd, Caernarvon, son of Robert Lloyd of Nefyn, and one of the three clergymen in North Wales who did not sever their connection with the Calvinistic Methodists after the first ordination in 1811. The volume contains statements of the writer's expenses at Jesus College, Oxford, 1798-1800; memoranda of the payment by Mr. Grindley of the writer's salary, 1802-1808 (£15 15s., being quarter's salary, 1802; £15 2s., being balance for serving Rhoscolyn, 1808); particulars of agricultural and household disbursements, 1811-1812; theological and sermon notes; a list of sermons preached at seventeen specified places in Anglesey, 7-23 December, 1827; and medical recipes.
