Seventeen letters, 1943-1980, mostly in Welsh, to Glyn Evans (or Ifans), Tregaron, mainly concerned with matters of literary interest. The majority date from the period of Evans's war service as an RAF wireless operator in Ceylon.
The correspondents are Jennie Eirian Davies, 27 August 1979 (f. 1); D. R. Hughes, 1944-1946 (ff. 8, 12-14); R. Williams Parry, 1952 (ff. 15-19); Iorwerth C. Peate, 1943-1980 (ff. 20-22, 24-29); Kate Roberts, 17 October 1946 (ff. 30-31), and Mrs Elizabeth Williams, [c. 1974] (ff. 32-33). Sub-fond A comprises papers related to Ann Jones's campaign for domestic fire safety measures in Wales, centering on the devolution of powers to the National Assembly for Wales for this purpose and the resulting legislation; the Domestic Fire Safety (Wales) Measure, 2011, which required sprinkler systems to be fitted to all newly built or substantially converted domestic residences in Wales. Sub-fond B comprises material related to Ann Jones' campaign against the closure of the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service control room in Rhyl. Sub-fonds C comprises material related to the Children's Society's decision to withdraw from Wales, and Ann Jones' efforts in the the subsequent establishment of Tros Gynnal Plant to continue that work. Sub-fonds D relates to the restructure of the National Health Service in Wales.

Seven holograph letters and one Christmas card, 1896-1899 and undated, from Fred[erick] W[illiam] P[earce] Jago [Cornish scholar] from Plymouth, to (as per address or by inference) H[enry] T[obit] Evans at Lampeter and Carmarthen. The letters relate largely to a mutual interest in the Cornish language. Specific points referred to include the address of a Truro bookseller who could provide recipient with books on Cornish, the writer's friendship with [the Reverend John] Bannister, variant forms of the writer's name, the death of the Cornish language owing to the pressure of English, the lack of a printed literature, etc., the survival of Cornish dialect in West Cornwall, the writer's published glossary of the Cornish dialect [The Ancient Language and the Dialect of Cornwall with an enlarged Glossary . . . (Truro, 1882)] and his English - Cornish Dictionary . . [(London, 1887)], unpublished manuscript copies of second editions of these two works which the author had offered to sell to the Royal Institute of Cornwall, the possibility that Professor [John] Rhys [of Oxford University] would assist with publication, the state of the Welsh language and the danger to it from English pressure on the eastern border and 'Forster's law of education', the need for 'at least bilingual teaching in the Welsh schools and the employment of native teachers', the lack of information relating to the use of Cornish in church services, the last sermon preached in Cornish, recipient's visit to Cornwall and newspaper articles by him describing the visit, the Breton and Manx languages, the [South African] war, and recipient's newspaper work.

There are also many files deriving from the parliamentary general elections campaigns of the period 1906-29 in Montgomeryshire. There are also papers relating to the North Wales Liberal Federation, 1940-46, and the Liberal Federation of Wales, 1943-45. The records cover the period when David Davies, Llandinam (1880-1944) was the Liberal MP for Montgomeryshire, 1906-29, and the early years of its representation by his successor E. Clement Davies (1884-1962). This group remains uncatalogued.

A holograph essay on 'Addysg yn Nghymru: Yn gosod allan ansawdd bresenol a neillduolion yr addysg a weinyddir; awgrymiad at ddiwygiad; yn nghyda'r pwysigrwydd o gysylltu Ysgolion Elfenol a'r sefydliadau Gramadegol a'r Colegau' written by 'Ofydd' [i.e., Hugh Pritchard, Llannerch-y-medd, co. Anglesey], and submitted for competition at the National Eisteddfod at Caernarfon [1880]. Bound in at the end of the volume is a cutting, from Baner ac Amserau Cymru, of the adjudication of Thomas Powell [sic], [University College of South Wales and Monmouthshire, Cardiff]. One half of the prize money was awarded to 'Meurig ap Iorwerth' ( Mr. M. E. Morris, Minffordd, Portmadoc, co. Caernarvon).

Littlejohns. The majority of the letters are to Matt Giles, who became the first full time organiser for the ILP in Wales.
