The accrual described here comprises additional records, 1863-2002, including papers of the Finance and Administration Division, the Chief Executive Division, the Access Development Division, and the Artform Development Division, which consists of papers of the Visual Arts, Literature, Drama, Dance and Music Departments, and papers inherited from its predecessor body, the Welsh Arts Council.

Records of the Brogyntyn estate, home of the Ormsby-Gore family, Barons Harlech, 1296-1951. They include estate papers and deeds, legal papers, financial papers, family papers and county administration papers of the Ormsby-Gore family, their ancestors, the Maurices and the Owens of Clenennau, the Wynns of Glyn and others, such as Anwyl of Park, Clayton of Lea Hall, Godolphin of Abertanat, Lyster of Penrhos, Mostyn of Nant, and Vaughan of Corsygedol. The three main estates represented in the collection are Brogyntyn, Clenennau and Glyn, the latter constituting a major addition to the existing North Wales holdings of Sir Robert Owen upon his marriage to Margaret Wynn in 1683. The documentation also covers other, subsiduary estates acquired by marriage or inheritance, namely Llanddyn, Sylfaen, Ystumcegid, Nant, Cemais, Penrhos, Abertanat and properties in the west of Ireland. The record types include title deeds for lands in Caernarfonshire, Merionethshire, Flintshire, Denbighshire, Montgomeryshire, Shropshire, elsewhere in England and Wales, and in the Irish counties of Westmeath, Leitrim, Sligo, Mayo and Roscommon, 1296-1838; rentals, accounts and other papers associated with estate administration, [1380s]-1951; manorial records, 1429-1804; household management papers, 1662-[c. 1949]; legal and arbitration papers, 1410-1834; financial papers such as mortgages and accounts, 1492-1876; family settlements, probate records and trusts, 1485-[c. 1862]; private letters, 1582-1950; papers relating to family interests, [14th cent.]-1951; personal papers of family members, 1672-1945; royal appointments and honours, 1795-1948; central government papers, 1581-1887; county administration papers, 1518-1904; and administration records of the church, schools and charities, 1598-[1876x1904]. Other component parts of the archive are the Clenennau Letters and Papers, which combine personal correspondence with the civil and military administration of Caernarfonshire from the late sixteenth to late seventeenth centuries. Additional records, comprising Lord Harlech's Game Books (3 volumes), 1882-1933, a journal kept by W. R. Ormsby Gore of the 13th Light Dragoons, May-September 1854, two manuscript catalogues of plays, 1815, and a manuscript catalogue of the library at Porkington, 1809, were acquired in March 2017.
The Brogyntyn (Longueville) group comprises deeds and documents relating to the Brogyntyn estate, 1607-1977, deposited by Longueville Gittins solicitors who provided professional legal services to the estate.

Manuscripts and papers relating to the Lloyd family of Bronwydd, Cardiganshire, and their ancestors, the Owen family of Henllys, Pembrokeshire, and records relating to the Bronwydd estate, including an early 17th century book of South Wales pedigrees, the literary, genealogical and historical manuscripts of George Owen of Henllys (c.1552-1613), including his Vairdre Book and a copy of his Description of Pembrokeshire; estate records including manorial records of Pembrokeshire manors including the barony of Cemais, including court rolls, 1381-1771, estreat rolls, 1474-1748, and court leet presentments, 1660-1885; records relating to the borough of Newport, Pembrokeshire, 1434-1847; toll books of Eglwyswrw and Newport fairs, 1599-1603; title deeds, 1241-1933, but mostly 16-18 cent.; rentals, 1682-1873; and estate correspondence, mainly [late 19]-[early 20 cent.].

Microfilm copies, produced between 1980 and 1984, of the bulk of manuscripts held at Cardiff Central Library, commonly referred to as the 'Cardiff MSS'. The manuscripts are wide-ranging in date and content, from the 12th century manuscript 'Vita Sancti Winwaloi; Vitae Sanctorum', to twentieth-century diaries, letters, minute books and scrapbooks. The Cardiff MSS include one of the oldest and most important of Welsh manuscripts, namely the 13th century Book of Aneirin ('Llyfr Aneirin') containing eulogies for soldiers of the Gododdin tribe who died in a battle at Catterick, Yorkshire, around the year 600. Notable collections are included, such as the Tonn, Havod, Cadrawd, Scott, Bradley and Wooding groups of manuscripts, as well as a large number of individual items of literary, religious, philological, topographical, local, and genealogical interest. Manuscripts described by Gwenogvryn Evans in Reports on Manuscripts in the Welsh Language (Royal Commission on Historical Manuscripts , London, 1898-1910), ii, pp. 91-345, 783-93 (with designated RMWL reference numbers), together with those manuscripts described by N. R. Ker in Medieval Manuscripts in British Libraries (Oxford, 1969-2002) (with designated MMBL reference numbers), are included, although catalogue entries do not usually contain descriptions of their content.

Estate and family records of the Chirk Castle estate, mainly in Denbighshire, comprising deeds from 1284; manorial records, mainly of the lordship of Chirk and Chirkland, 1322-1853, including receiver's accounts, ministers' accounts, court rolls, etc.; records of the estate's involvement in the coal, iron and lead industries in Denbighshire from 17 cent.; Denbighshire Quarter Sessions records, including order books, 1647-1675, rolls, 1643-1699, and a book of indictments, 1670-1690; Denbighshire militia records, 1602-1797, and related local government records, 1602-1811; business papers of Sir Thomas Myddelton (1550-1631); personal and estate correspondence from c.1600; literary manuscripts, c.1630-1887; and parliamentary election papers for Denbighshire and Denbigh boroughs, 1681-1852, including papers relating to quo warranto proceedings against the mayor and burgeses of Holt, 1739-1743.

In addition to the above, ten designs for stained glass panels, with armorial pedigree of the Myddelton family attributed to A. W. N. Pugin and John Hardman Powell; three hundred and thirty-two volumes relating to the Chirk Castle estates; a collection of miscellaneous volumes and documents relating to the Chirk Castle estates, including an account book of the Nangwrud Slate Quarry, rentals books, account books, volumes relating to the Black Park Colliery, a rabbit account book, and other papers; and an indenture, 1812, relating to Bodlith, Llansilin, part of the Chirk Castle estate, have also been acquired. These remain uncatalogued.

Clement Davies's papers, [c.1884]-1967, mainly Liberal Party papers, 1928-1962, Clement Davies's political career, 1929-1965, Welsh affairs, 1936-1962, peace movements, 1940-1962, foreign affairs, 1944-1962, constituency papers, 1951-1962, and home affairs, 1953-1963; and papers and correspondence of Jano Clement-Davies, 1873-1969, and papers of Stanley Clement-Davies, 1920-1963.

The records deposited in 1934 included two major groups, the 'Trevecka Group' and the 'Bala College Group'. The former, which represents the largely autonomous 18th-century development of Methodism in Wales, beginning in the 1730s, is centred on the archives of the founding father of Welsh Methodism, Howell Harris, and of the religious community which he established, the 'Trevecka Family'. Besides the 290 volumes of Howell Harris's diaries (for 1735-73), it comprises some 3000 letters, accounts of Societies (individual groups of adherents) and records of Associations. The 'Bala College Group' represents the development of Methodism during the 19th century, its spread in North Wales, the separation from the Established Church in 1811 and the formation of the Confession of Faith in 1823. The accessions of the years 1934 to 1974 include the records of the Sasiwn [the Association], district meetings, colleges, some individual chapels and churches, personal archives (both those of ministers and laymen), and those of the Foreign Mission. In content, the accessions of the years 1974-83 are distinguished from those of the earlier period by the high proportion of records of individual churches, many of them deposited because of the closure of the church. A third series, following a classification similar to that of the second, lists accessions from July 1983 onwards. The records of the North Cardiganshire Presbytery, detailed in a schedule [c.1940], have been withdrawn. Particular mention should be made of the archives of the Foreign Mission, which cover the missionary work of the Church in North East India from its beginning in the 1840s.

Title deeds of Trovarth and Coed Coch, Denbighshire, 1246-1894, Gwyndy Ucha, 1749-1906, and Teirdan, Denbighshire, 1735-1826; bills and accounts, 1627-1892; correspondence, 1712-1889, rentals of Coed Coch estate, 1801-1838, maps and plans, 17-19 cent., and military papers relating to the Napoleonic Wars.

The main records of the court are: (1) civil side: plea rolls which is the formal record of civil actions, mainly debt, but from around 1700 only those actions which reached issue - an extremely small proportion in fact; docket rolls and books which serve as indexes to the plea rolls; prothonotary files which include draft pleadings, including those which did not reach issue, challenge pedigrees, insolvent debtors' papers and slander and libel papers where a defendant had moved for a writ a prohibition to halt the action being heard in the consistory court; feet of fines and common recoveries which are indexed in docket books of fines and recoveries and, for the Brecon circuit only, in the docket books of pleas and fines; and order books, which is a formal records of the court's orders in both civil and criminal cases; (2) Crown side: gaol files which include indictments, depositions of witnesses, recognizances, calendars of prisoners and coroner's inquests; indexes to criminal prosecutions for Flintshire (called Crown books, 1564-1666) and the Brecon circuit (called the Black Books, 1726-1830) though the order books already referred to contain formal records of orders to carry out sentences or to discharge prisoners; calendars rolls of indictments for Radnorshire, 1554-1659, Glamorgan, 1554-1603, Cardiganshire, 1541-1602, and Pembrokeshire, 1541-1622, 1674; and mainprize rolls (only six have survived) which list names of individuals bound over from one sessions until the next for an indefinite period; (3) equity side: pleadings of complainant and defendants together with interrogatories or set questions submitted to witnesses together with their replies; reports of the registrar of the court, decree books and bill books, the latter serving as indexes to the pleadings.
