M. Eddie Evans: Emyn-donau

A collection of hymn-tunes and a few other compositions of Morris Eddie Evans (1890-1984), maintained by the composer from 1906 to 1972 or later. Most of the tunes constitute a series numbered by the composer 1-148 (127 and 128 missing). The other works are four rhapsodies (pp. 34-42, 44-7, 52-4), 'Barcerolle' (pp. 65-9) and 'Largo' (pp. 144-9), all for organ, and a few songs. Most of the tunes are given words (mostly Welsh), some are dated, some have details of entry in 'eisteddfodau'. The tune 'Pantyfedwen' is on p. 124. There has been much pasting in of revised and additional tunes and words, some from printed 'Detholiadau'.

Almost three hundred letters, 1931-1974, from Llewelyn Wyn Griffith (1890-1977), novelist, poet and translator, to Arthur Behrend (1895-1974), shipbroker and novelist, together with photocopies of two pages from an unpublished memoir written by Arthur Behrend, in which he describes how he came to meet Lyn Wyn Griffith in the early spring of 1931, and tells of their subsequent close friendship.

Minute book, 1846-1847, of the Committee of Visitors appointed by the Court of Quarter Sessions for Glamorgan (under 8 & 9 Vict., c. 126, as amended by 9 & 10 Vict., c. 84) to erect and build a Lunatic Asylum for the county alone or to treat with any other county or counties for its erection. The volume also contains the following transcripts:- orders for the appointment of the committee at the Epiphany Sessions of 1846 and 1847; a letter, 14 October, 1847, from R. W. Lutwidge, secretary to the Commissioners in Lunacy, to Sir Denis Le Marchant, Home Office, and a letter, 16 October, 1847, from the latter to [Thomas Dalton], Clerk of the Peace for Glamorgan; and representations [1847] by the committee to Sir George Grey, Home Secretary.
