A typescript volume of two hundred and thirty-six hymns composed by the Reverend Howell Elvet Lewis ('Elfed'), pastor of King's Cross Welsh Congregational Church, London; together with an index of first lines. The collection, compiled and bound by the Reverend J. Seymour Rees, Seven Sisters, Neath, is classified into (a) general hymns, (b) translations and adaptations, (c) hymns for children, and (d) translations and adaptations for children.

A volume containing two hundred and seventy numbered hymns (four-stanza sections of longer hymns, in some instances, being numbered as one hymn), ? by, and in the hand of, Thomas Williams [weaver, hymn-writer, and lay preacher], of Rhes-y-Cae, Flintshire. Some of the hymns are annotated, ? to denote the specific occasion for which they were written, e.g., 'Dydd ympryd, 1831 Ionawr 19' (No. 18); 'Cyfansoddwd [sic] ar [a]mser pla yn y flwyddyn 1834' (Nos 19-20 ); 'Jubili yr ysgol sabothol yn y flwyddyn 1831' (No. 61); '. . . iw chanu wrth gychwyn corff Meistres Owens tu ar bedd, sef gwraig y Parch. A bound volume inscribed on the outer cover 'Tregrug Inclosure, 1808', and containing printed and manuscript material relating to the enclosure of lands, including wastes called Common Coad y Pane and The Forest, within the manor of Tregrug, co. Monmouth. The printed items consist of a copy of An Act for inclosing lands in the Manor of Tregrug in the County of Monmouth, 1808, and of an act relating to enclosure procedure entitled An Act for consolidating in one act certain provisions usually inserted in acts of inclosure; and for facilitating the mode of proving the several facts usually required on the passing of such acts, 2d July 1801 (London, 1807). The manuscript entries include declarations, subscribed 2 August 1808, by Thomas Fulljames [of Hasfield, co. Gloucester, gent.], as commissioner, and Robert Wright Hall [of Cirencester], as surveyor, that they would discharge their respective duties in connection with the enclosure faithfully; a nomination, subscribed 2 August 1808, by proprietors of land within the manor, of William Morgan of Mamhilad, co. Monmouth, esq., as banker in connection with the project; an affidavit, signed 9 August 1808, by George Long and William Womack, land surveyors, concerning the survey they had made of the lands to be enclosed; copies of notices of meetings to be held, and of declarations issued re public carriage-ways, public foot-paths, and private roads, 1808-1809, signed by Thomas Fulljames; reports of meetings held, and of business transacted, 1808-1809, also signed by Thomas Fulljames; copies of the announcements of allotments to be sold and of the conditions of sale; the commissioner’s statement of account, 1808-1809; and a declaration, signed by the Reverend John Thomas, clerk, and Thomas Jones, esq., Justices of the Peace, 27 June 1810, concerning the completion of certain public carriage roads.

A statement relating to legal action taken [circa 1837-1838] by the Commissioners of Woods and Forests against Mr. [Cecil] Parsons of Presteign [co. Radnor], attorney, in respect of an encroachment claimed by him upon the wastes of the manor of Iscoed, co. Radnor. The said manor, along with those of Uchoed, Ruslin, and Southneithon [Swydd Ieithon] in the same county, had been purchased by J. Watt, esq., from the Crown in 1826, but Mr. Parsons had refused to acknowledge any rights claimed by the purchasor in respect of the encroachment.
