Material comprises minutes of proceedings at a deputation from the Mining Association of Great Britain (MAGB) to the Home Secretary, 1896; minutes of proceedings of MAGB Central Committee meetings with the Miners' Federation of Great Britain, 1923-6; reports of the Coal Industry Joint Fuel Efficiency Committee, and other reports, including a major report and supplementary notes by the Association's chairman, Robert Foot, "A Plan for Coal" concerning the nationalisation of the coal industry, 1944-7; and an historical review of mining compiled to supplement an exhibit of models at the Wembley Coal Mine, 1924.
