Rhys family of Cuffern and Scotsborough pedigree,
An illuminated genealogical and heraldic chart compiled in 1866 by Albany Wallace of Worthing, co. Sussex, formerly of Bayswater, co. Middlesex, showing the descent of the Rhys family of Cuffern and Scotsborough, co. Pembroke, who later took the surname Stokes, from Rhys ap Tewdwr, king of Deheubarth, through the families of Warren of Trewarren, Wogan of Wiston, co. Pembroke, and Clement of Caron and Genau'r Glyn, co. Cardigan. The genealogical details, enclosed in decorative cartouches, and the accompanying painted coats of arms are on paper, cut out and pasted on a cardboard base.

An account book of the Llangwm Tithe Defence Fund, 1887-1889. Inset is a blank form of a printed notice, 1887, to collectors on behalf of the Fund.
A minute book of Llangwm Tithe Defence Fund Committee ('Pwyllgor Trysorfa Amddiffynol Merthyron y Degwm yn Llangwm'), 1887-1889. Inset are a statement of accounts, 1887-1889, a rough estimate of costs incurred (undated), and a writ to the defendants in an action, 1888, by Owen Edwards, plaintiff, against William Williams and others (specified), defendants, for the recovery of fees for professional service rendered in surveying and preparing a plan of a road from Cerrig-y-druidion to Mawddy [sic] Post Office.
A manuscript containing prose texts and strict metre poetry in Welsh in the hand of Robert Richard, an otherwise unknown scribe, c. 1760 (see notes on ff. 1, 29v), with a few later additions. Place-names mentioned in accounts added on ff. 47v and 68v suggest the volume to have been in the Betws Abergele area, co. Denbigh, in the late 18th century. The prose includes 'Erra Pater' (ff. 1-10v) and other prognosticatory texts (ff. 10v-13); astronomical memoranda (ff. 13-15v, 43r-v); 'Histori y Saith Wyr Doethion o Rufain' (ff. 17-29v); 'Athrawieth Historaeawl ...' (ff. 29v-41v); 'Histori y Saith Gyscadur' (ff. 42-3); 'Llyma fal i mae un yn tebygu ei ardeml ... sef ei deml gorphorol' (ff. 44v-6v); and 'Histori o hanes Adda ag Efa' (ff. 46v-7). The poetry comprises englynion including an englyn 'a ganwyd am gladdedigaeth Bytheiad Llewelyn ap Ierwerth Drwyn-dwn ...' (f. 18v); 'Erfynniad Taliessin' (f. 44); and cywyddau by Syr Dafydd Owain, Gwilym ap Siôn ap Dafydd, Huw Morys, Ieuan Brydydd Hir, John Prichard, Maredudd ap Rhys, Siôn Dafydd Lâs, Siôn Phylip, Wiliam Llyn and Wiliam Phylip (ff. 48-68).

Notebook of Henry Harris, Ystrad Rhondda, begun in 1921, containing lists of place-names and field names in the Rhondda. Some of the names are taken from a tithe map of 1847 (ff. i, 1-51).
Also included is a typescript list of the same place-names, on loose sheets, the names numbered and in alphabetical order (ff. 52-98); typescript and manuscript notes, [?1938], on the Rhondda in the year 1737, including transcripts of Overseers of the Poor accounts (ff. 103-109); notes, 1938, relating to bird life in the Rhondda (f. 110); and three letters to Harris, October 1921-May 1928, including two from M. H. Jones, Penllwyn (ff. 99-102).

The letter provides a poet's view of the life 'behind the line' and yet heroically does not reveal the actual horrors of the trenches, but focuses on the few small moments of beauty that the poet finds to contemplate and share with the reader.
