A typescript copy of the Order Book of the Court of Quarter Sessions for Brecknockshire from 4 October, 1670, to 13 January, 1684/5, and records of licenses granted to agisters and inn-keepers at quarter and special sessions from 2 May, 1671 to 25 May, 1674, and of recognizances, indictments and presentments, 5 October, 1680. At the beginning of the volume, following an introductory note, is a list of maimed soldiers allowed and approved of, Michaelmas, 1675, and at the end are particulars of the dates and places of meeting of special sessions, 1683, and a copy of an inset in the original volume, described by the copyist as 'possibly ... a leaf from a Petty Sessions Record', 2 March, [16]73/4 - 13 May, 1674. This typescript copy was made at NLW in 1936.

A typescript copy of an order book of the Court of Quarter Sessions for co. Brecknock, 4 October, 1670-13 January, 1684/5. Beginning at the end of the original volume are records of general and special sessions held for the hundreds of Builth, Devinnocke, Merthyr, Penkelley, Talgarth, Crickhowell, and Ystrodveltey, 2 May, 1671-25 May, 1674, to grant licences to alehouses and for the grazing of cattle on the commons; recognizances, indictments, and presentments, 5 October, 1680-1683; and a loose sheet containing marriage licences, citations, etc., 2 March, 1673/4-13 May, 1674.

A small volume written from both ends and containing receipts to Penry Williams, esq., [of Penpont, Brecon] in respect of various charities established by members of the Games family of Newton. At the one end are acknowledgements of the receipt by the twelve 'sisters or ancient women' of Games's Hospital, Brecon, with their signature or mark, 1744-1767, of their quarterly allowance of 10s. each and, 1744-1761, of twelve gowns, i.e. one each annually, allowed them by the foundresses, Madam Elizabeth Walker and Madam Katherine Games of Newton, deceased, and acknowledgements, 1744- 1761, of the receipt by four poor widows or elderly maidens, inhabitants of the town of Brecon and parish of St. David's, with their signature or mark, of two flaxen shifts each, being a charity given annually by Mrs. Elizabeth Walker of Newton, widow, deceased. At the other end, following a list of 'Names of the poor to Receive the Newton monthy [sic] Charity Bread; August 16, 1744', are receipts, 1744-1762, for 20s. per month for the monthly bread given by the Newton family and 20s. for a charity sermon preached at the Collegiate Church of Brecon on 30 August annually, and, 1744-1761, 20s. for the charity bread given at the same church on 30 August each year. A note at the end of this series of entries reads 'vid: red cover book for receits [sic] from hence for bread sermon and shifts'. The volume contains in addition a number of miscellaneous receipt: in connection with work done, e.g. making gowns and petticoats for the almswomen 'glazing work where Jane Brown lives', tiling at Games's Hospital, etc.

Six letters and cards, [c. 1950]-1971, from Brenda Chamberlain to the Rev. Michael Reakes-Williams, containing personal news (ff. 2-6, 10 verso-13); together with two to him from Alan Clodd of the Enitharmon Press, 1972 (ff. 15-16), and one each from Peter Jones and Meic Stephens of the Welsh Arts Council, 1972 (ff. 17-18), all concerning Chamberlain.
Included in the Chamberlain letters are ink sketches relating to a visit to Schleswig-Holstein, West Germany, in 1958 (f. 4 recto-verso), a typescript poem commissioned by the Welsh Arts Council, 1971 (ff. 12-13), and greetings cards designed by her (ff. 2-3, 5-6). Also included are a pen and ink sketch of a woman on horseback, [?1949], and a pen and watercolour drawing of a fish, 1949, both by Chamberlain (f. 1 recto-verso); a programme for a dance recital at the Lamda Theatre Club, [?1964] (ff. 7-10); and a copy letter, 16 January 1959, from Reakes-Williams to a Mrs Armstrong on behalf of Chamberlain (f. 14).

A collection of papers, [1950s]-2013, relating to Brenda Chamberlain, comprising three letters, 1955-[?1964], from Chamberlain on Bardsey Island and Ydra, Greece, to her friend Henry [Mitchell], concerning personal news and her work (ff. 1-6), together with one letter, 27 September 1971, from Joan Rees, Bangor, to Mitchell, belatedly informing him of Chamberlain's death (ff. 7-8); and manuscript fair copies, probably in Chamberlain's hand, [?1950s], of four poems, 'Endymion's Sleep', 'Midwinter', 'Islandman' and 'What the old man said' (ff. 9-13).
The letters discuss Chamberlain's painting 'The Acrobats at Practice', then recently purchased by Mitchell (ff. 1-2 verso), and a funeral on Ydra (ff. 3-4). A version of 'Islandman' was published in The Green Heart (London, 1958), p. 27; drafts of 'Midwinter' are NLW MS 21508B, ff. 1-6. Also included are newsletters, 2011-2013, of Cyfeillion Murluniau Brenda Chamberlain ar Enlli / The Friends of the Brenda Chamberlain Bardsey Murals (ff. 15-22) and a cutting from The Times, 21 September 1955, p. 3 (f. 14).
