Thank you for your letter informing that the French army with eleven ships was engaged in a sea battle near the coast of Sri Lanka. After a battle lasting the whole day three of their ships were destroyed and the rest managed to escape. Our ships gave a chase and are now arrived at Phuljhari. Also Colonel Forde will be leaving for Bengal on the 23rd of this month
