The collection comprises business records of David Hughes & Sons, Aberdyfi, namely ledgers, 1878-1946, day books, 1888-1913, account books of receipts, 1870-1905, a bank account book, 1937-1943, and a file of bills and invoices, 1927. There is also a notebook containing minutes and other records of the Sunday school of Tabernacl C.M. church Aberdyfi, 1892-1893, and a notebook containing brief details relating to the Aberdyfi Burial Board, 1909.

Family papers of the Griffiths and Lewis families of Glanhafren, Newton, later of Milford Hall, Newton, Montgomeryshire, comprising mainly the personal and professional papers of James Griffiths (b. 1821), Medina Sara Griffiths (1840-1928), a headmistress and pioneer of education for girls, Eveline M. Lewis (1871-1958), and Medina Lewis (1898-1984). The archive also includes pamphlets and press cuttings of family interest, 1858-1944, papers on estate maintenance, 1930-1952, and family photographs, 1887-1949.

Records of the Fishguard Harbour Improvement Company comprising minutes, 1857-1864; other administrative papers (notices, reports, bye-laws, specifications and estimates), 1857-1897; financial papers (account books, receipts and vouchers), 1857-1897; and correspondence with the Admiralty, the Board of Trade, firms of lawyers and others, 1857-1897. There are no records relating to the later history of the Company.

Estate, personal, professional and shipping records of the Havard family of Newport and Milford, both in Pembrokeshire, including the business papers, 1839-1858, of Levi Havard of Milford, shipbuilder, and the professional papers, 1867-1893, of Dr David Havard of Newport, District Medical Officer for the Cardigan Poor Law Union. Amongst the shipping records there are papers, 1833-1879, relating to the Newport schooners 'Harmony','Claudia' and 'Adroit', and the Milford brig 'Anne'.

Papers, 1901-1991, of dramatist, poet and literary critic John Saunders Lewis consisting mainly of correspondence and comprising letters, 1914-1955, between Saunders Lewis and Margaret Lewis (née Gilcriest), including letters written whilst Saunders Lewis was serving in the First World War and whilst he was imprisoned in Wormwood Scrubs in 1937; letters, 1919-1984, to Saunders Lewis from various correspondents, including seventy-three letters, 1923-1983, from Kate Roberts, and fifty-three letters and cards, 1948-1974, from artist and writer David Jones, together with letters, 1937, to Margaret Lewis from David Jones and from various correspondents to her, 1919-1951; letters, 1919-1924, to Saunders Lewis from his father Lodwig Lewis, and letters, 1952, 1984-[c. 1986], to Mair Saunders Jones, daughter of Saunders and Margaret Lewis, including a letter, 1952, from Kate Roberts; together with autograph and typescript drafts of plays by Saunders Lewis, 1936-1983, articles, notes and addresses by him, including students notebooks of 1914-1920, and poetry, 1912-1947, by both Saunders and Margaret Lewis.
References include those to Plaid Cymru, Welsh nationalism, contemporary Welsh literature, the state of the Welsh language at the time, and Roman Catholicism.

The papers, 1960-2003, reflect Councillor Ray Davies's life and the political campaigns and activities in which he was involved. Many are cuttings from local and national newspapers and other printed items. Some of the material reflects his campaigns in various elections, others the movements which he supported and in which he participated. A large number relate to the campaign against the community charge in the 1980s and 1990s. A few stem from his personal and family life.
