Papers, 1897-1994, of Geraint Dyfnallt Owen mainly comprising correspondence and travel journals reflecting Owen's involvement with Welsh and European history, politics and culture. There are also letters, 1929-1951, to and from Owen and his parents the Rev. and Mrs John Dyfnallt Owen. Letters from Breton cultural and religious leader Jean-Marie (Yann-Vari) Perrot, donated with other papers by Dr Geraint Dyfnallt Owen in 1979, have been incorporated in this group (NLW MS 23322D).

Group 1 comprises a substantial corpus of correspondence and papers relating to Prime Ministers, government and society, education, foreign affairs, imperial affairs, Ireland, Wales, Coleg Harlech and the Gregynog Press. There are also classes concerning the Astor family, Abraham Flexner, Violet Markham, Sir Henry Jones and Sir Percy Watkins. There are also papers relating to Thomas's Jones publications and his diaries, privately printed in Switzerland, and a substantial group of press cuttings arranged by subject. -- Subsequent accruals of the papers of Dr Thomas Jones include correspondence and papers, 1855-1955, including letters to and from Dr Thomas Jones; pocket diaries, an account book and pocket notebooks kept by Dr Jones, 1916-[1955]; correspondence and papers, 1933 and 1948-1955, relating to the administration of the Pilgrim Trust; papers, 1955-1961, relating to Thomas Jones's death in October 1955, sympathy letters received, and material concerning arrangements for the memorial service and the administration of the Thomas Jones Memorial Fund; correspondence, 1962-1987, deriving from the use of the Thomas Jones Papers in the custody of the National Library of Wales; and press cuttings, 1912-1955.

Papers of Sir Cyril Fox, including archaeological correspondence, notebooks, reports, photographs, drawings, and heavily annotated copies of publications and offprints of articles and related press cuttings, together with personal material including letters, essays, poems, certificates, autobiographical notes, and genealogical papers. Also included are papers accumulated by Cyril Fox's son, Charles Scott-Fox, during the preparation of his published biography of his father.

Manuscripts comprising drafts of the hitherto-unpublished portions of Edward Owen's Catalogue of manuscripts relating to Wales in the British Museum, with draft indexes; reports prepared by Edward Owen on Liverpool Town Dues and related papers, 1931; essays written by him for the London Eisteddfod, 1887, and the National Eisteddfod at Caernarfon, 1894; notes, pedigrees, transcripts and letters relating to Welsh history, antiquities, county history, families and individuals such as John Edwards of Chirk, and historical figures including Owain Glyndwr [some items published 1893-1935]; transcripts and extracts relating to the history of Wales taken from public records by Edward Owen, E.A. Lewis and others, including several land surveys, at least one of which was used as evidence before the Royal Commission on Land in Wales, 1895; transcripts of papers by or relating to Alfred Neobard Palmer, Wrexham, 1885-1922; facsimiles and original documents including Privy Purse Accounts of Queen Anne, 1702-1710, and a holograph letter from Queen Anne to Sarah, duchess of Marlborough, 1710; letters mainly addressed to William Edwards of Chirk Hall, 1675-1677; autograph letters, mostly addressed to Edward Owen, 1886-1943; and deeds, 1463-1769, the majority of which relate to the estates of the families of Edwards of Plas Newydd and Puleston of Emrall in cos. A collection of manuscripts containing pedigrees and genealogical material relating mainly to North Wales; extracts, etc. from Anglesey, Caernarvonshire, Denbighshire and Flintshire deeds; accounts, [17 cent.]-[19 cent.], of the Ty Fry estate, Anglesey; transcripts by Angharad Llwyd; material relating to David Hughes, founder of the free grammar school, Beaumaris; extracts from Anglesey public records and other notes and transcripts relating to Anglesey; a calendar relating to the Courts of Great Sessions for Flintshire and Denbighshire, 1668-1696; correspondence collected by John Lloyd, Caerwys (1733-1793); Caerwys churchwardens' accounts, 1662-1669, 1680-1690, 1697-1698; material relating to Abergele; miscellaneous transcripts, extracts and translations; etc.

The papers comprise correspondence files, 1918-1982, among them general and political letters to Goronwy Roberts and constituency correspondence; subject files, 1913-1981, including papers concerning foreign affairs (some deriving from Goronwy Roberts's trips abroad), domestic politics, Welsh politics and matters relating to Wales, and files of material concerning Caernarfonshire; various personalia, 1918-1982; and miscellaneous papers, 1900-1997, including printed items and press cuttings.

Personal papers, 1926-1971, including scrapbooks, 1926-1951; programmes and posters of productions in which he acted or directed, 1936-1971; papers relating to St David's Theatre Trust; and a letter from Dylan Thomas, 1948.

Records relating to the administration of the diocese of St Davids and Dean and Chapter of St Davids Cathedral since 1397, comprising episcopal registers, bishops' transcripts, marriage bonds and affidavits, and chapter act books, as well as records relating to: the ordination, appointment and resignation of clergymen and other individuals; the licensing of curates and other individuals; the licensing and consecration of land and buildings; faculty papers; dilapidations and sequestrations; augmentations, the creation of new parishes and boundary changes; dissenters' meeting houses and Roman Catholic chapels; episcopal revenues and accounts; Brecon Collegiate Church; parochial returns; deeds; consistory courts; visitations; correspondence; and miscellaneous volumes and papers, including terriers and documents relating to episcopal elections.

Further records, including correspondence, sermons and papers relating to conferences, were received in April 2016; a watercolour painting of St Davids Cathedral (1791), has been transferred to the NLW visual collection.

Additional records, 2008-2016, among them visitations, correspondence and material pertaining to events, together with papers and photographs relating to the Cathedral, 1994-2008, were received in September 2016.
