Deeds and documents (1668-1882) relating to properties mainly in in co. Flint (Axton, Bistre, Caergwrle, Coleshill, Cwm, Cwm Uwchglan, Diserth, Estyn or Hope, Hawarden, Holywell, Hope, Hope Owen, Huriathicke, Kilken, Kinnerton, Mould, Newmarket, Northop, St Asaph, Shordley, Skeiviog, and Whitford), but also in cos Denbigh (Denbigh, Henllan, Llanrwst and Lleweny), Chester (Chester and Dodleston), Brecknock (Devynnock), Anglesey (Amlwch, Coedana, Llanerchymedd, Llanbadrug, Llanddyfnan, Llanfechell and Llanfihangel Tre'r Beurdd), Montgomery (Berth Lloyd) and Pembroke (Amroth). The main families were Mostyn of Mostyn Hall and Hope of Broughton and Hope.

Reports, 1874-1926, drawn up by William Galloway and others (including his son, Christian) relating to the mining of coal and other minerals in Wales and elsewhere around the world, examining matters including mining engineering, geology, the economics of working minerals (sinking shafts, mineral extraction, mineral quality, labour, maintenance, transport and selling prices) and the history of mineral working; the reports comprise examinations of mines, mineral fields, mineral seams and other geological strata, as well as statistics, maps, plans, diagrams, photographs, sketches, correspondence, inventories, itineraries and notes; the archive also includes related material, 1957.

Records of the Voelas and Cefnamwlch estates in Denbighshire and Caernarfonshire, mainly 19 cent.-20 cent.; including rentals, 1808-1949, uncommonly full estate correspondence, 1866-1948, building accounts, 1865-1870, estate ledgers, 1866-1912, title deeds, 1726-1956, valuations, 1855-1945; records of the Pooley estate, Warwickshire, and the Pooley Hall colliery, 1838-1909; and family and personal papers of the Wynne and Wynne-Finch families, including letters from Alice Mary Sybil Wynne Finch, 1914-1917, William Heneage Wynne Finch, 1919-1929, and John Charles Wynne Finch, 1924-1945.

The fonds comprises papers, 1950-2002, relating to the New Welsh Review, including correspondence, 1987-2001; editorial papers, 1989-1995 and 2000; contributions to the journal, 1988-2002; administrative papers, mostly concerning marketing and publicity, 1986-2001; together with various accumulated papers, 1950-2001. Papers donated in 1998, and described in NLW Minor Lists and Summaries 1999, have been incorporated within this archive.

Six boxes containing papers and electronic files of The New Welsh Review Ltd, including material concerning the history of the company (to 3 May 2024) and the partnership with Parthian; May 2024.

The group donated in 1987 comprises letters from Gareth Vaughan Jones to his family, 1922-1935, many while on foreign travels; letters to him, 1919-1934; a curriculum vitae and references, 1925-1934; research notes, [c. 1930]-1932; typescripts, drafts and notes for articles and lectures, [1925]-[1935]; typescripts of press articles written by Gareth Vaughan Jones during his world tour, 1934-1935; newspaper cuttings of Western Mail articles by Gareth Vaughan Jones, [1933]-[1935]; papers concerning Gareth Vaughan Jones's death, [1935]; printed books, 1926-1927, and papers of his father Dr Edgar Jones, including letters, 1890-1952; letters concerning the death of Gareth Vaughan Jones, 1935; press cuttings and papers relating to his time as head of Barry County School, 1906-1935; typescripts of broadcasts and talks, 1939-1945; and papers relating to his death, 1953. The papers deposited in 2007, 2010 and 2011 comprise family papers, 1894-2007, including a few papers relating to Gareth Vaughan Jones's parents Major Edgar Jones and Mrs Annie Gwen Jones; papers of, or relating to, Gareth Vaughan Jones, 1916-2002, including diaries, notebooks, press cuttings of his articles, letters, mainly from him to his parents and other members of his family, and papers relating to his capture and subsequent murder in August 1935; and the papers of Dr Siriol Colley, 1922-2004, mainly deriving from her researches into her uncle's life, work and death, including transcripts and photocopies of relevant source materials. The material donated in July 2011 comprises six pocket diaries containing detailed observations and comments on Gareth Jones's travels, mainly in Germany and Russia, between 1931 and 1934, together with the last passport issued to him in 1930, and a few stray items which have been incorporated in the previous files. Another group includes photographs, postcards, negatives and lantern slides, [c. 1900 - c. 1990].

Two boxes containing additional papers were received in July 2018.

Gareth Vaughan Jones's personal copy of Russische National-Bibliothek (Leipzig, 1881), with the following notes inscribed in the front of the volume “Gareth Vaughan Jones, Trinity College, Cambridge. Riga, den 4 August, 1927”; February 2025 and his copy of Das Ende Der Reparationen by Hjalmar Schacht.

A small chest presented to Edgar Jones, Gareth Vaughan Jones' father, on being granted the Freedom of the Borough of Barry in 1950, together with a certificate marking the occasion, related press cuttings, photographs of Edgar, Annie Gwen, Gareth and Raymond Jones, a photograph of Gareth Jones' dog, and a letter from the University College of South Wales and Monmouthshire following the death of Edgar's brother, Raymond, during the Great War; together with an article by the depositor about Annie Gwen Jones; March 2025.

Correspondence and genealogical notes and papers relating to the Pierce family of Meiriadog, Denbighshire, later of Cwybyr, Flintshire, 1841-1936; leases and a few other documents, 1596-1764; autograph letters of David Jones, Llangan, 1800, and Rice Owen Jones, Blaenau, 1815; correspondence and financial accounts relating to barques and ships, 1873-1885; and letters, 1934-1936, relating to a stained glass memorial window for Llandrillo Parish Church, Denbighshire.

Musical manuscripts and personal papers of William Mathias, including manuscript and published scores, 1950-1994; personal correspondence, 1972-1992; lectures and articles by him, 1972-1991; reviews, programmes, press releases, newsletters and ephemera relating to his work and honours awarded to him, 1952-1994; and correspondence of Yvonne Mathias relating mainly to performances of her husband's work, 1987-1994.

The five items deposited in 1995 was incorporated to the present structure and given E2d, B14c, K11b, K11c, and J1d as reference numbers.

Two items deposited in 1998 was incorporated to the present structure and given I1b and K18b as reference numbers.

Two items deposited in 2005 was incorporated to the present structure and given I27a and I28a as reference numbers.

An additional box of William Mathias's music manuscripts were received as a donation in August 2006. These manuscripts have been introduced at the end of the present structure as a Sub-fonds, entitled 2006 Donation, in February 2016.

Further donations of music manuscript scores, 2019, 2020, 2022 and 2024, have been arranged by donation.

William Mathias Recordings including reel to reel tapes, video tapes and vinyl records donated in July 2015 has been transferred to The National Screen and Sound Archive of Wales.

Papers, 1727-1791, relating to both Clive's public and private life but mostly to the former. They include letter books of outgoing letters sent from both England and India, 1752-1774; Clive's financial records, mainly relating to his financial concerns in India, 1752-1774; estate and household records, 1761-1781; records relating to his official duties in India, particularly as governor of Bengal, including records he acquired of earlier East India Company employees, 1727-1772, political papers, including canvassing lists and poll books, [c. 1761]-1775; and records of Clive's trustees and executors, 1774-1791.

Archive of the Cambrian Coast Line Action Group comprising papers created and collected during the campaign to prevent the closure of the Cambrian Coast railway line between machynlleth and Pwllheli and to improve services an the line along with the archive of the Welsh Railways Action Group, formed in 1971 to co-ordinate between various railway campaigns in wales and to campaign for improvements to the Welsh railway network as a whole and papers and publications relating to local rail campaign groups in west Wales, along the Heart of Wales line and in the Wrexham area.
