A volume (212 pp., several of which are blank) originally intended for use as a ledger, written in several hands and containing accounts, 1766-8 (webs, rye, butter, barley, etc. [?Dolgellau district, with references to Penllyn and Trawsfynydd]); a few medical recipes; stanzas of verse beginning 'Gwrando' nghariad ar fy nghwynion ...' (incomplete); the first twelve stanzas of a poem written by John Williams, St Athan, after the expulsion of Peter Williams, 1791 (cf. the printed version, 1793, of 'Can diddarfod'); a weaver's patterns; a copy of part of a herbal, Aneth - Pren Bocs (cf. Llysieulyfr Meddyginiaethol a briodolir i William Salesbury, ed. E. Stanton Roberts (Liverpool: Hugh Evans & Sons. 1916), p. 249; accounts, 1829-30, headed 'Account of the Factory's work from the 12 of Novr. 1829'; part of a treatise in Welsh on physiognomy (?possibly a translation as it contains quotations in English verse); and verses by Cadwalader Thomas and 'englynion' by Evan Elis 'I Factory Cefnddwysarn a adeiladwyd yn un cyntaf yn mhenllyn'. At the reverse end are notes in Welsh on the theory of music and a draft (in pencil) of the will of John Cadwalader of Tyllwyd in the parish of Llan D...., Merioneth, 1823, etc. Among loose papers are two bills (one mutilated), 1830, to Ebenezer Williams, Cefnddwysarn for spinning, etc.

A collection of 'cerddi', 'carolau', 'penillion', etc. in free metres by Hugh Moris and Rogiar Jones and numerous anonymous poems and scraps of verse. Also included are a rental of chief rents of Cynlleth yr Iarll and a rental of the tithe of Llangadwalader, Denbighshire, both undated, and a medical recipe. A note by Dafydd Marpole in Cwrtmawr MS 225, p. 86 attributes the present manuscript to the last quarter of the seventeenth century. Among later additions to the volume are holograph 'englynion' by Joseph Marpole ('yn llegys'), 1779. The spine is lettered 'Gwaith H. Morys a Roger Jones'.

An imperfect volume containing 'cywyddau', etc. by Thomas Prys, Robt. Lewis, Iolo Goch, Gutto or Glynn, Richard Kynwal, Robt ap Rees Wynn ('o Arianog'), Rowland Vychan, Richard Kynfol, Y Prydydd Hael, Evan Deulwyn, Doctor Sion Kent, Edward Mayelor, D'd ap Gwilim, Tudur Aled, Risiart Gele, Sion Tudur, Simwnt Vychan, Ievan Gethin ap Ie'nn ap Lleision, Evan Lloyd brydydd, Madog Benfras, Howel Gethin, Llowdden, Sion Phillip, Robt. Clidro, Sion Brwynog, Dafydd ap Rys ap Evenni?, D'd ap Edmund, Gruffydd Grvg, Mredydd ap Rees, William Llyn, and Rees Wynne, and anonymous poems; and poems in free metres by Rydderch Roberts and Ifan Llwyd Sieffrey. Later additions include a few medical recipes and copious marginal arithmetical calculations. The text, according to a note by J. H. Davies on the fly-leaf, was used by the writer of NLW MS 717, and the manuscript in fact bears an example of his hand. The spine is lettered 'Poetry'.

A collection of Welsh medical texts, including tracts on blood-letting and uroscopy, medicinal recipes, and a lists of herbs in English, Welsh and Latin, all written in a seventeenth-century hand.

A composite volume, written in several hands, containing a list of 'oils, ointments, and plasters, with their uses'; 'Cyngor yr hen Gyrys' [cf. Bbcs ii, 9]; 'Agoriad byr Ar weddi'r Arglwydd' (partly in verse); an imperfect text of 'Chwedlau Odo' ('Dammhegion a scrifenwyd ar femrwn ynghylch y flwyddyn, oedran Crist, 1300'); an account in Welsh of some of the feast days, written after 1660 in an unusual orthography, 'Hynod betheu Iessu Xt. ar ei ddiwedd'; verses entitled 'Ymgomio rhwn [sic] y claf o'r Darfodedigaeth Ai Glwyf' attributed in a later hand to Hugh Moris, and 'Dyriau a wnaed wrth : 139 : psalm Ar Fessur arall'; 'Carolau a Dyriau Duwiol' [cf. Carolau a Dyriau Duwiol (1696), pp. 5-11, 14-34]; Scriptural references; sermon notes (in English); hymn stanzas; and copies of one or two parish certificates and other documents,' c. 1709-10, in which the parishes of Llangynog and Llanllawddog, Carmarthenshire and Cilcennin, Cardiganshire are mentioned. There is some confusion in the pagination here and there: e.g. p. 79 should follow p. 10 and p. 83 should follow p. 76. The end-papers are a folio from a seventeenth century printed book. Inset at the beginning of the volume is a letter, 1924, from D. Lleufer Thomas, Whitchurch, Glamorgan to J. H. [Davies] concerning the manuscript, and a slip of paper with notes in the autograph of J. H. Davies.

A copy of Rhys Jones (ed.): Gorchestion Beirdd Cymru ... (Amwythig, 1773), with copious late eighteenth century manuscript additions entered partly in the margin and partly (largely) on bound-in leaves at the beginning and the end. The majority of the additions are in the hand of Jacob Jones, recipient of the volume (see note, below). These consist mainly of prose texts of 'a Letter written by our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and found 18 miles from Iconium 65 years after Our Saviour's Crucifixion ...', 'King Agbarus's Letter' and 'Our Saviour's Answer', and 'Sentulius's Epistle to the Senate of Rome'; culinary and medical recipes ('Receipts of Sundries'); and 'cywyddau', 'englynion', 'cerddi', metrical psalms, etc. by William Edward, W. An interleaved copy of ....sive Graecorum Epigrammatum Florilegium Novum Cum aliis Veterum Poematis, etc. In usum Scholarum (Londini, Ex officina J. Redmayne, 1673). The title page bears the arms of Westminster School. The volume contains manuscript additions of the period [16]92-3, including part of an interlineal literal Latin translation and copious medical prescriptions.

A collection of poetry, etc. largely in the hand of David Jones. Examples of the scribe's signatures in the manuscript are dated 1704 and 1708 and the volume may therefore be attributed approximately to this period. It comprises 'carolau', 'cerddi', 'Ymddiddanion' and a 'cywydd' by T. Ed[wards], Hugh Morris, Cad[wala]dr Roberts and Thomas Maurice, together with anonymous poems; a few medical recipes; a table, undated, of the phases of the moon; an account, undated, of monies received [in the Llansilin area]; and a presentment of Edward Jones and Roger Lewis, churchwardens of the parish of Llanarmon mynydd mawr, 1705.

An imperfect late seventeenth and early eighteenth century commonplace book of Howell Tanat (Tanatt, Tannat, Tannatt), Trewylan Isa, Llansanffraid-ym-Mechain, Montgomeryshire. It contains poetry in free metres by Oliver Rogers, Humfrey Dauyd ap Ivan, William Philips, Rolant Voughan [sic], Howell Tanatt, Edward Rolant and Hugh Moris, and anonymous poems; English verses; accounts, 1685-1707 and undated (household, farm, payments to craftsmen, assessments of lewns in Llansantffraid and Llandysilio, etc.); short depositions touching a suit in the Court of Chancery relating to Robt. Kinaston [of Trewylan Ganol, Llansanffraid-ym-Mechain] containing references to a plot and the keeping of a Jesuit priest; household and medical recipes; an incomplete dictionary of English phrases with their Latin equivalents; scriptural notes; a prayer; etc.

A volume largely of poetry in strict and free metres transcribed by John Morris during the period circa 1784-8. It contains 'Ychydig o Reolau Gramadegawl a gasglwyd gan y Parchedig Mr. [David] Ellis o Amlwch ... yr hwn sy'n wr deallus iawn ac yn perchen awen ragorol. Ac yn hoffi'n fawr yr Iaith Gymraeg ...' Preceding the text is a progressive list ('Tabl') of the 'carolau', 'cerddi', and 'cywyddau' contained in the volume. That the entire volume is based on a variety of sources is shown by the last entry inserted by the scribe: 'Yr ychydig o hen bethau hyn, a godais I allan o hen Lyfrau pan oeddwn mewn oriau Segur, rhag I Colli hwynt ...'. Inside the lower cover are printed 'Englynion Croesawiad Sior IV. 'Trwy Gymru' by [Hugh Jones] ('H. Erfyl'). There are a few minor entries in the hand of Mary Richards.

A transcript by Thomas Rees Davies of Betws Abergele, 1820, of a copy by John Jones, 1780, of a book of medical recipes compiled by William Glyn of Elernion in 1527, with additions.

A manuscript in the hand of 'David ap Griffith effyriad' (see pp. 13, 14) containing medical precepts and prescriptions (pp. 15-27, 54-92), material of botanological (pp. 28-40), physiological (pp. 41-49) and theological (pp. 1-12) interest, and poetry (pp. 13-14, 50-53). The section on botany includes a Latin-Welsh vocabulary of plant names. Poetical works cited are those of Taliesin, Dafydd ap Gruffydd and Gruffudd Gryg.
There are traces of the hand of Sir Thomas Wilems (p. 40), and also of another hand on many folios.

A collection of medical recipes, astrological notes and diagrams, and a list of christian names. Some of the recipes and notes are in cipher. The monogram 'M.L.' occurs twice in the manuscript.

A volume (78 pp.) written in several hands, in part at least between 1755 and 1763, containing medical recipes headed 'Cynghorion', 'englynion' by William Phylip, Gr. ap Ievan 'o lannerch llyweni', 'Robin ddu o hir Addig', Einion ap Gwalchmai, extracts from 'Talysau [sic] yr hen Oesodd' [sic]', 'englynion' between 'Colwyn' and 'Craff' ('gwaith brus mawr. Evanvs Thomasvs'), 'geiriau gwir Taliessin', and a numbered series of medical recipes headed 'Cynghorion amriw ddolurie'. There are also memoranda giving the date of birth of some of the children of Thomas Lewis and Margratte [sic] Evanes, etc., and some accounts [?Penllyn district, Merioneth].

An imperfect manuscript of the second half of the seventeenth century containing medical and culinary recipes based partly on printed sources (e. g., John Gerard: The Herball . . ., 1597), together with a few eighteenth century additions including recipes, stanzas of a Welsh hymn, and musical scores.

A manuscript of Thomas Nicklas (Niccolas) 'of Conoway [sic] Cheife fortoun teller yet no Necromancer'. The title-page reads 'Dyma y Gwir Ly[f]r Tesni. A wnayth Saithwyr Doethion, yn wir yn ol y xii arwydd ar vii blaened'. The volume, which is in several hands, consists largely of astrological texts and the main titles and subjects include '... y llyfr hwn o natirieth yr arwyddion y genir mab a merch ynddynt ...', '... llyfr tynghedfen', '... chwech graedd yr haul', 'y deuddeg Arwudd mewn syweddyddiaeth [sic]', 'Dyddiau peryglus ... y flwynddyn [sic]', a diagram entitled 'Pethegros Chwil', 'y saith blaenedau', 'y pum tremiadau', 'y tri nodau', 'Torriadau mewn meddyginniaeth', 'Mae ymhob dyn naturiol saith blaened fawr ryfeddol yn cyd weithio ...', medical recipes, 'Y Rhinwedd sydd yn y Goldmair J gyhuddo lleider', 'Y Modd i adnabod yr hwn a gaffer yn wr neu yn wraig ...', a diagram entitled 'Olwyn Tesn' (p. 174) and an accompanying key entitled 'Datcaniad yr Olwyn', etc. On pp. 159-60 is 'Datcaniad or holl Eiria Saesneg sydd yn yr olwyn Tesnu' and a Latin address 'Ad Lectorem' by 'Griffithius Williams de Portadown, Hibernia 22 Non. Jan: 1728/9'. One of the texts is subscribed 'John Williams his Copi 1723-4'. The volume has been incorrectly bound: pp. 157-8 should follow p. 186.
