A notebook marked on the cover 'Llên Gwerin Cymru' and on the spine 'Ofergoelion Arfon. Bywgraffiad', containing notes on folk-lore, superstitions, etc. and a transcript by J. R. Hughes, 1928, of a biographical essay (in Welsh) on the Rev. Thomas Meredith (1821-1901), rector of Newborough, co. Ang., and afterwards rector of Llanddeusant in co. Ang., by Hugh Williams of Pen-y-Gamdda, Newborough, carpenter (dec. 1916), 'Clochydd Niwbwrch Môn am 37 o flynyddoedd'. There are also some personal memoranda by J. R. Hughes - 'Nodion personol a theuluaidd', etc. Loose papers include some family photographs and a ballad sheet printed at the Catnach Press, London. A note in pencil by J. R. Hughes reads 'This Ballad Sheet is said to have been printed with the type that Benjamin Franklin used when he was a printer in London'.

Morgan [39 Lion Street, Hay], Jan. 30 1877, by 'Aunt Watkins', with instructions that she was to write or copy poetry into it. The entries made by Miss Morgan include poetry and also recipes, etc., 'for it will never get filled with poetry'.
