A Narrative of the Foundation of the Powis Exhibitions to commemorate the maintenance of the sees of St Asaph and Bangor. Printed. It comprises: 1. Resolutions of a public meeting held on June 19 1847 at Willis's Rooms, Westminster to promote the object of a Testimonial to the Earl of Powis. It was decided that the Testimonial should take the form of scholarships, to be known as the Powis Scholarships, in such number as the subscriptions will admit of, at one or both of the Universities of Oxford or Cambridge, for the maintenance of students, natives of Wales or of one of the four dioceses of Bangor, St Asaph, St Davids, or Llandaff, thoroughly acquainted with the Welsh language and intending to become candidates for holy orders. A committee was elected to collect subscriptions and to arrange the value and number of the Scholarships. 2. List of subscribers. 3. Trust Deed, dated Aug. 17 1848 and signed between the Bishop of Bangor, St Asaph, Llandaff, and St Davids of the first part and the Rt Hon. Edward James, Earl of Powis of the second part. The preamble contains a recital of the resolutions specified in (1) above, an account of the subscriptions received and of its investment by the trustees, and rules and regulations for the examination of candidates. 4. Report on the first examination held at King Edward's School, Birmingham, Oct. 6, 7, and 9 1848, an account of subscriptions received and of their investment by the trustees, a form of bequest to the trustees, a form of the advertisement of the examination, particulars of the subjects of the examination, a form of certificate required of each candidate on the occasion of every half-yearly payment of his Exhibition, and a form of receipt for such payment.
