Papers of the Jazz Heritage Wales archive, comprising material relating to what was initially known as the Women's Jazz Archive, later Women in Jazz, and finally Jazz Heritage Wales, which reflect the archive's founding and development, its aims and objectives and its wide-ranging involvement in the field of contemporary and historical jazz music. Together with material relating to the archive's founder Jen Wilson, reflecting her interest, involvement and personal achievements in the fields of music, media, education and history, particularly women's social history. The archive also includes material relating to organisations and projects in which Jen Wilson participated but for which she was not solely responsible.

Two English versions, by 'W. Ap Madoc' and J. Daniel Evans ('Ap Daniel') respectively, of a Welsh poem on St. David's Day written by W. Cynwal Jones; a letter, February 22, 1889, from 'Ap Daniel' to his cousin; and a letter, March 6, 1915, from Josiah Jones, Machynlleth, to his nephew Dr. A. T. Evans, Llandyssul, giving biographical details about 'Ap Daniel'.

A late fifteenth-century illuminated manuscript of Les Stratagèmes, the French version of the Latin Stratagemata of Julius Sextus Frontinus, translated, [1439x1460], for Charles VII, king of France, by Jean de Rovroy (fl. 1388-1460), dean of the faculty of theology at the University of Paris, who has added extracts, in French, from the Epitoma Rei Militaris of Vegetius (see R. Bossuat, 'Jean de Rovroy, traducteur des Stratagèmes de Frontin', Bibliothèque d'Humanisme et Renaissance, 22 (1960), 273-86, 469-89). Written by one scribe, 'H. G.', in France (f. 70 verso). Decorated initials with burnished gold for all books and chapters; other initials and paragraph marks in alternate red and blue. Four polychrome miniatures, one representing the translator presenting his book to Charles VII, probably the work of Robinet Testard (fl. 1484-1523), miniaturist to count Charles d'Angoulême (1459 or 1460-1496), later to his wife, Louise de Savoie (1476-1531); retouched in XIX cent.

Papers of Jean Earle (1909-2001), poet, of Abergwili, Carmarthenshire, comprising letters, 1977-2001, draft copies of her poems and short stories.

Papers, 1979-1981, of Jean Hunt (née Ware), relating to the publication of a book she co-wrote with her husband Hugh Hunt, on her grandfather, Dr Griffith Evans (1835-1935), described by some as the father of modern veterinary science. The papers include letters from Jean Ware to Mari Ellis, who assisted with the translations into Welsh for the press releases, press cuttings relating to the publication of the book, and notes by Jean Ware on Griffith Evans taken from sources at the National Library of Wales.

The fonds comprises two accruals. The first consisting of papers, 1936-1987, including local affairs, 1973-82, Welsh affairs, 1972-83, domestic politics, 1978-82, legal matters, 1978-80, foreign affairs, 1978-81, Social Democratic Party, 1981-5, and Labour Party, 1986-7. The second accrual, described here, consisting of scrapbooks, 1970-1976, relating to Jeffrey and Margaret Thomas' work in the Abertillery constituency; scrapbooks relating to Jeffrey Thomas' general election campaigns in Barry and Abertillery, 1966-1979; and other political and personal papers.
