Written at House of Commons. 'Created a greater sensation in the House yesterday than even I thought I had. It seems to be the talk everywhere. The papers - Liberal & Tory - can hardly find adjectives to describe it. ... Front Benchers all sick & backbenchers delighted. ... Frank Edwards so excited about it that he tells me he didn't sleep all night! ... I thought at once how pleased Uncle Lloyd would be because I saw in his recent letters an undercurrent of dissatisfaction with my inactivity in the House. Now I have made atonement to him'.
