Letters, 1917-1918, from Private John Roberts of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers, to his parents in Tanygrisiau, Wales. Private Roberts was taken prisoner in Germany on 23 March 1918, and included is a notification of his death, 1 August 1918, stating that he died in an accident there 31 May 1918, and was buried at East Cemetery Gelsenkirchen, together with a photograph of his grave. = Llythyrau, 1917-1918, oddi wrth y milwr John Roberts o'r Royal Welsh Fusiliers, at ei rieni yn Nhanygrisiau, Cymru. Pembroke, shoemaker, mainly recording names of preachers, with texts of sermons, at Pontgarreg, Cenarth, and other Calvinistic Methodist chapels, as well as at Association and other CM meetings, in counties Carmarthen and Pembroke, together with occasional references to family and local events. The volume also includes transcripts of hymns and other verse, and other miscellaneous memoranda.

The journal of William Williams (1774-1839), sometime MP for Weymouth and Melcomb Regis, co. Dorset, describing a walking tour through Wales and to Liverpool and Chester, May-June 1796, accompanied by the Reverend James Burgess. A note on f. i verso - 'The following Copy was made from the original Tour by a Welsh servant, not well acquainted with the English language. Hence the errors in spelling & grammar, with which it abounds' - is in the same hand as the final paragraph of the narrative and as emendations and additions to the text. Other additions, mainly on the blank dorse of folios, are in a different hand, possibly that of James Burgess.

A mid twentieth-century typescript copy of the journal of the Liberal politician and educational reformer Sir Arthur Herbert Dyke Acland (1847-1926), MP for Rotherham, 1885-99, marked 'volume i' and covering the period 26 January 1871 - 27 March 1898. The journal, which contains details of personal, family and political matters, consists mainly of intermittent entries, mostly written retrospectively and often lengthy.
