Outsize scrap book containing English manuscript and printed poems, letters, ballads, songs, press cuttings, posters and speeches, 1648-1763. As the title suggests, the majority of the material is concerned with royalist themes under the Stuart monarchs, support for the Jacobite cause and anti-Hanoverian propaganda. The earlier works include a copy of a poem by Charles I during his captivity at Carisbrooke Castle, 1648, and items relating to the Commonwealth regime. The later 17th century material concentrates particularly on William III 's foreign wars and his unpopular policies. Individual items of interest include a poem by by Hugh Quellyn praising Sir Robert Owen 's royalist loyalties [pre-1698]; a translation of Merlin 's prophecy; a poster for the [Denbighshire] elections entitled The Protestant Ballad or Advice to Freeholders [c. 1730]; programmes for a puppet show, 1734, and for songs performed at Hardwick, 1763; and well-known accounts of the executions of Lords Kilmarnock and Balmerino, 1746.

A collection of receipts for tenths paid in respect of churches appropriated to the Cathedral for the maintenance of divine service and for the use of canons residentiary, ranging from 1776 to 1867. These receipts also include payments for tenths in respect of the archdeaconry of Brecon, the rectory of Aberedow, the vicarage of Llywel, the rectory of Penderen, and the prebend of Nangunllo for the year 1811 only.

A collection of records of the First District or Division of the Montgomeryshire Turnpike Roads Trust (Welshpool, Llanidloes, Newtown, Llandinam, Machynlleth and Kerry area), 1756-1893, (the Trust itself was wound up in 1885), including accounts and vouchers in respect of road repair and construction, accounts of tolls collected at the various turnpike gates (at Llanfair, Park, Sarnybryncaled, Dolhafren, St Giles, Kerry, Llanidloes, Talerddig, Scavelleth, Llifior, Pool, Newtown, Abermule, Machynlleth, Berth Llwyd, Garthmill, etc.), leases of the tolls of the said gates, mortgages of tolls, biddings for tolls, and correspondence.
