Drama Association of Wales: Additional Scripts
Collection of scripts formerly held as stock at the Drama Association of Wales as donations/loans from theatre companies across Wales. The collection also includes some letters from donors, play flyers, stage directions and notes from numerous playwrights/directors.

The Welsh Quoits Archive, comprising material relating to British quoiting, the majority of the material relating to quoiting in Wales, including: match programmes, posters and flyers, match listings and statistics; rules and regulations of quoiting; press cuttings relating to quoiting matches, quoiting clubs and club members; newsletters; correspondence between quoiting clubs, between individual club members and between clubs and members of the public; items relating to notable quoiting club occasions such as centenaries and anniversaries; and miscellaneous material relating to quoiting, including information relating to the history of the game. The bulk of the material relates to quoiting in Wales, mainly involving international matches (the majority of which were against Scotland) played on Welsh soil. One particularly notable item is a copy of a printed booklet titled The History of Quoits in Wales by Albert Baker (published by J. R. Davies in 1949), which is enclosed with a letter, 14 December 2000, to Linda Evans, Joint Secretary of the Welsh Quoiting Board, from Darryl Baker, grandson of the author (see under heading Quoiting: Wales: Correspondence: Letters to Linda Evans).

Papers of the Richard family, Tregaron and London
A collection of family papers relating to the Richard family of Tregaron. The collection includes letters from the Reverend Ebenezer Richard addressed to members of his family, together with letters from his son, the Reverend Henry Richard, also mainly addressed to family members.
The collection also contains a table in the hand of Ebenezer Richard, dated 5 December 1816, showing dates of circuit journeys to be undertaken by Calvinistic Methodist ministers in Cardiganshire during 1817; a petition, dated [1878], addressed to W. E. Gladstone, Prime Minister, from Henry Richard and others, and enclosing papers, dated 1878, relating to the Abersychan Relief Committee; and a printed address by Henry Richard directed to the electorate of Merthyr Tydfil, Vaynor and Aberdare.

A diary and commonplace book of John Davies (David) ('Siôn Dafydd y Crydd'), bookbinder and cobbler, of Llanfihangel Ystrad, co. Cardigan. The diary covers the period from 1 January 1796 to 19 December 1799 (new style) and refers mainly to 'booking', e.g., the binding of local Church Bibles, the making of a letter case for William Lewes, Llysnewydd, the purchase of pasteboard and glue, etc. Other entries consist of copious observations on the weather and on the health of the writer and of members of his family; records of other activities of the scribe and of his wife, such as the making up of club accounts and attendance at club feasts, the making up of churchwardens' and vestry accounts, the writing of documents (leases, wills, marriage settlements, letters, bidding letters, and club articles), estreating, attendance at religious services, the death and burial of local residents, visits to fairs, gardening, the raising of turf, the making of candles, watch repairing, the spinning of flax and hemp, grinding at the mill, etc.); and references to unusual or interesting contemporary incidents, e.g., the beginning of Bedlwyn bridge, 9 August 1796, 'great noise about the French landing in Pembrokshire', 1 March 1797, 'great alarm about mad dogs ', 17 March 1797, the eclipse of the sun, 24 June 1797, '2000 Irish emigrants in Pembrokshire', 15 June 1798, 'Terrible Rebellion in Ireland', 18 June 1798, '... the Buck wheat plowed with a new plow English fashion with foure Horses', 31 August 1798, etc. In the left hand margin of each page are two columns indicating each date in both the new and the old styles. The remainder of the volume contains miscellaneous poetry, including stanzas and 'englynion' by D. Davies, lines 'On Czar Peter of Russia', 1797, stanzas beginning 'God save the Rights of Man', 1795, 'Englynion I Lys Ifor Hael ...' by Evan Evans ('Bardd ac Offeiriad'), 1779, with an English translation, 'Can, yr hon a genir gan filwyr Ffraingc wrth fyned it frwydr', 1797, stanzas entitled 'God Save the King' (beginning 'Fame let thy Trumpet sound') (extracted 5 January 1763 from The Gentleman's Magazine, December 1745), stanzas extracted in 1772 from William Lithgow's 'Book of ... American autograph album of John Griffith (Gohebydd)
Autograph album, 1866-1868, belonging to the journalist John Griffith (Gohebydd), compiled during visits to Reconstruction Era America to report for Baner ac Amserau Cymru. The album contains eighty-four signatures and inscriptions, mainly by Senators and other senior politicians and social reformers (ff. 3-49).
The signatories include the future Presidents James A. Garfield (f. 32) and U[lysses] S. Grant (f. 37), future Vice-Presidents Tho[mas] A. Hendricks (f. 7) and Schuyler Colfax (f. 26), Secretary of War Edwin M. Stanton (f. 36), presidents pro-tem of the Senate L[a] F[ayette] S. Foster (f. 19) and B[enjamin] F. Wade (f. 22), the abolitionists and social reformers Frederick Douglass (f. 38), Wendell Phillips (f. 45) and Anna E. Dickinson (f. 46), the actor James E. Murdoch (f. 41) and the writer R[alph] Waldo Emerson (f. 43). A few autographs are of Welshmen (ff. 44, 49).
