A copy of Martyn Richards' work 'Brenin reports how "To smash the system"' relating to the Brenin Report on housing ('Will housing authorities survive crisis?'); together with typescript copies of two reports, March and June 1996, sent by Martyn Richards to the Monopolies and Mergers Commission, regarding the application of Severn Trent Water Ltd to take over South West Water, and in particular the public liability of Severn Trent Water Ltd to highway users. The first of three volumes (see also NLW MSS 23702-3D) of typescript and manuscript accounts by women from Wales of their experiences in the Second World War, selections from which were published in Parachutes and Petticoats: Welsh Women Writing on the Second World War, ed. by Leigh Verrill-Rhys and Deirdre Beddoe (Dinas Powys, 1992). The material was submitted in response to an appeal in 1991 by the publishers, Honno. A copy of the complete archive has been donated to the Imperial War Museum, London.

Elizabeth-James I; and a list by Robert Owen of late seventeenth and early eighteenth century probate records, in the diocesan registries of Bangor and St. Asaph, of persons in Llandderfel, Corwen, Llandrillo in Edernion, Gwythelwern, Llansanffraid [Glyndyfrdwy], and Llangar, Merioneth.

A typescript copy of the probate of the will of Rees Lewis of the parish of Killycwm, Carmarthenshire, yeoman (father of Morgan Rhys, Llanfynydd, hymnist), 10 September, 1779 (will dated 26 June, 1768); and two typescript copies of the probate of the will of Morgan Rhys of the parish of Llanfynydd, Carmarthenshire, yeoman, 7 August, 1779 (will dated 2 August, 1779), together with a photograph of a section of the original will comprising testator's signature and seal.

The archive comprises the records of Messrs J. and A. Davies, Llanidloes, including account books, 1927-1972, a bill book, 1957-1965, and a letter book, 1958-1962; and miscellaneous office records, 1872-1964, of Williams, Gittins and Tomley.

A collection of papers, 1797-1924, relating to Mary Williams of Llanfihangel-ar-arth, the Bettiss family of Caernarfon and the Williams and Churchill families of Caernarfon, brought together by the dealer and collector Edward Hall, Surbiton.

Family papers of the Williams family of Castell Deudraeth, 1859-1929, including a bound volume containing papers, including letters and press cuttings, relating to the general election of 1859 in Merionethshire in which David Williams stood as a Liberal against the sitting Conservative Member W. W. E. Wynne of Peniarth; scrapbooks, 1903-1929, containing press cuttings concerning the family, notably Sir Arthur Osmond Williams, and two typescript essays.

A printed copy of Gudmundur Andrésson, Lexicon Islandicum sive Gothicae runae vel linguae septentrionalis dictionarium ... (Copenhagen: Christian Wering for Christian Gerhard, 1683) [BL STC Scandinavian G385]. The volume was presented, [1702x1704], by James Vernon the younger (1677-1756), (British envoy to Denmark from 1702 to 1707), to the linguist William Wotton (see Wotton's inscription on front pastedown). Wotton subsequently annotated the volume with copious notes comparing Icelandic to English and Anglo-Saxon, whilst working on his groundbreaking research on an Indo-European proto-language. That work was poorly published in Latin as 'Dissertatio de confusione linguarum Babylonica', in John Chamberlayne's Oratio dominica (Amsterdam, 1715), without the author's knowledge. An English version was published posthumously as A discourse concerning the confusion of languages at Babel (London, 1730) [ESTC T83574].
