Medals

Four medals, 1824-1834, one presented to William Owen Pughe, 1824, and three to his son Aneurin Owen, 1832-1834.
They comprise: (i) the medal presented to William Owen Pughe on 22 May 1824 in a meeting held at Freemasons' Hall, London, to celebrate the fourth anniversary of the (revived) Cymmrodorion Society (inscribed 'Cymmrodorion Llundain i Idrison am ei Ymegnïon er Amlygu Jaith ac Hanesïon y Cymry Mai 22. 1824'; it was designed by [John] Flaxman, RA, and executed by [William] Wyon of the Mint, see The Cambrian, 29 May 1824, p. 4); (ii) a medal awarded to Aneurin Owen at Beaumaris Eisteddfod, 1832, for his essay on agriculture ('Eisteddfod Beaumaris / Aneurin Owain am ei Draethawd ar Amaethyddiaeth 1832'); (iii) a further medal awarded to Aneurin Owen at the same eisteddfod, inscribed 'Presented by their Royal Highnesses The Duchess of Kent and The Princess Victoria to Aneurin Owain August 1832'; and (iv) a medal awarded [to Aneurin Owen] at Gwent and Dyfed Royal Eisteddfod, [Cardiff, 20-22 August 1834], for the best [Welsh] song ('Rhoddwyd yr Ariandlws hon am y Gan Oreu'). All except (iv) are housed in their original presentation cases.
