I met Nawab Nasir al-Mulk Bahadur in the evening of Friday, 23 Rajab, reg. yr. 5. I departed the next morning and reached Bhagalpur and from there I came to Monghyre and from there I reached Surjagarh. Here I came to know that a great battle was being fought there since Saturday and that Maharajah Ram Narayan Bahadur, because of his better tactics and manoeuvres, was having an upper hand in this battle. All roads going to Azimabad are blocked. Whosoever tries to cross the lines is killed. The only way to reach there is by boats through Hajpore. This news should be conveyed to all. Today, Thursday, we received the news that the enemy force was running away towards the west of the fort. It will be good if you could send a sufficient force to support us as soon as possible. Nearly two thousand strong enemy force under the commands of Mirza Kochak and Madar al-Daulah is creating much trouble. Date(s) on item: Reg. yr 6, April 7 received
