Howell, then a senior aerodynamic compressor design engineer at Rolls-Royce, Derby; together with reprints of two articles and a note by W. T. Howell which appeared in The Aeronautical Quarterly, vol. 15, Nov. 1964, and the Philosophical Magazine, series 7, vol. 28, Sept. and Oct. 1939.
