A memorandum book of the Reverend William Lloyd, Caernarvon, son of Robert Lloyd of Nefyn, and one of the three clergymen in North Wales who did not sever their connection with the Calvinistic Methodists after the first ordination in 1811. The volume contains statements of the writer's expenses at Jesus College, Oxford, 1798-1800; memoranda of the payment by Mr. Grindley of the writer's salary, 1802-1808 (£15 15s., being quarter's salary, 1802; £15 2s., being balance for serving Rhoscolyn, 1808); particulars of agricultural and household disbursements, 1811-1812; theological and sermon notes; a list of sermons preached at seventeen specified places in Anglesey, 7-23 December, 1827; and medical recipes.

A book of agricultural and household accounts, 1805-19, with accounts of tolls collected in the Mostyn district, 1814-21.

A note of moneys and men levied for Ireland in eight counties of Wales, September, 1601, and April, 1602, and a list of Monmouthshire men taxed in the subsidy 'who did not formerly lend vnto the Kings Ma:ty'.

A volume, [early 19 cent.]-1851, used as a letter book by William Williams of Carne [Carnecoch], Llanwnda, Pembrokeshire. The volume contains copies of letters, September 1834-March 1842 (pp. 325-447), March 1842-June 1843 (pp. 457-473) and June 1843-April 1851 (pp. 45-264), mainly concerning the rents, tenancies, repairs and management of the estates of D. Davies and the Rev. Edward Jones in the parishes of Little Newcastle, Dinas and St Davids, Pembrokeshire, and the estate of Mrs Amy Skeel and Mrs. Williams (mother of William Williams) in Kibworth Harcourt, Leicestershire.
Also in the hand of William Williams are farm accounts [?for Carnecoch], October 1832-August 1833 (pp. 40-43). The volume also contains, in a different hand, [early 19 cent.], miscellaneous extracts, notes and memoranda, including medical, veterinary and domestic recipes (pp. 2-38, 448-455, 475-479), extracts from John [sic] Claude's observations on the composition of sermons (see Jean Claude, An Essay on the Composition of a Sermon, translated from the original French by Robert Robinson, 2 vols (Cambridge, 1778-1779, ESTC T138627)) (pp. 267-307), and 'Concerning the time when Christianity was first preached in Great Britain, and by whom' (pp. 309-323).

Llyfr nodiadau, [18 gan., canol], yn cynnwys meddyginiaethau a ryseitiau meddyginiaethol, ynghyd â detholiadau a nodiadau yn bennaf yn ymwneud â phynciau meddygol, iechyd a gwyddoniaeth. Ymddengys fel pe bai'r awdur wedi nodi darganfyddiadau meddygol a wnaed ganddo ef ei hun ar ff. 66 verso-7. = A notebook, [mid-19 cent.], containing remedies and medical recipes, together with notes and extracts mainly on medical topics, general health and science. It appears that the author has noted his own medical discoveries on ff. 66 verso-7.

Pedigree, dated 1687, of Richard Herbert of Dolforgan, Kerry, Montgomeryshire, containing nineteen coats of arms, all painted, tracing Herbert's lineage, in the male line only, through fifteen generations, [?spuriously] from King Henry I and his son Herbert [?recte Henry] fitz Roy.
Husbands and wives are recorded in roundels beneath their impaled coats of arms; additional coats have been included to represent Herbert's wife's parents and maternal grandparents, and his daughter. Three generations have been added to the pedigree in a different hand (without heraldry), while further additions have been roughly sketched in pencil, [18 cent., last ¼]. Eight roundels have been left empty. The compilers of the pedigree are not named, however the Rev. John Jenkins (Ifor Ceri) ascribes it to Morris Evans of Llanfyllin, antiquary, and 'John Richardson, Herald Painter' (see NLW MS 1655B, f. 8; the repetition of this attribution alongside other pedigrees in the same volume (f. 13 verso) may cast doubt on its accuracy however). A dedication at the foot of the pedigree lists the authorities consulted (in NLW MS 1655B, f. 9 verso, Ifor Ceri appends the same list to a different pedigree altogether).

A miscellany compiled partly in his eighty-fifth year (1760) by John Davies or David of Pentre Vidoc (or Foelas) and containing eleven psalms in 'cywydd' metre by Sion Tudur, 'cywyddau' by Humphrey Thomas ('Bardd yr Ennig') and others unnamed, an 'awdl gyffes' by Sion Phylip, 'englynion' by Edward Morys, Richard Jones, and Owen Gruffydd, 'tribanau', a transcript of a Welsh historical chart (beginning with a synopsis of the 'Promptuarium Biblia' and continued to the reign of Richard III) compiled by John Gruffudd Eyton (1513), anecdotes, and holograph 'englynion' addressed to John Davies by T. E. Nant. (i.e., Thomas Edwards, 'Twm or Nant').

An illustrated 'Journal of a very short Walking Tour in North Wales', 23 July-1 August 1853, by Walker Baily, Champion Park, Denmark Hill, London. The tour comprised Shrewsbury, Llangollen, Valle Crucis Abbey, Corwen, Cerrig-y-Druidion, Bettwys[sic]-y-Coed, Llanrwst, Conway, Bangor, Carnarvon, Llanberis, Pen-y-Gwryd, and Chester. At the end are two road maps entitled respectively 'River Wye (Ross to Monmouth)' and 'River Wye (Monmouth to Chepstow)' and a printed folded map of North Wales. The letters 'W. B.' are inscribed in gold on the upper cover.

Two poems by Dafydd Vaughan, 'Gwir gariad' and ['Camgymeriad'], have stanzas in English and Welsh alternately, the Welsh following the English. -- As so many of the poems in the manuscript are by Dafydd Vaughan he may possibly have been the scribe. The volume has annotations by Walter Davies ('Gwallter Mechain') who has designated it 'Llyfr Ystrad Alun' and who transcribed some poems from it - see NLW MS 1658.

A composite volume comprising Llyfr Gweddi Gyffredin (Llundain, 1634) lacking title-page, and Llyfr y Psalmau, wedi ev cyfieithv a'i cyfansoddi ar fesvr cerdd yn Gymraeg by Edmund Prys, Archdeacon of Merioneth (Llundain, 1638) with many seventeenth- and eighteenth-century marginal and additional notes in Welsh, English, and Latin. The manuscript additions include a prayer in Welsh (Llyfr Gweddi Gyffredin B8v), verse in Welsh by Ellizabeth Price 'i dyrfa Llandanwg'(ibid 06), englynion by 'H.M.' [Huw Morus] and 'H.E.R.' (ibid Aa1v), a riddle in Latin (ibid Gg7), and entries relating to the births and baptisms of the children of Richard Poole of Tyddin y Felin, Llanfair-iuxta-Harlech, co. Merioneth (f. ii, ibid Mm2v, Llyfr y Psalmau A1v), and of Richard Vaughan, esq., of Corsygedol (f. iv verso).

Fifteen holograph letters, [1830x1831]-1888, apparently brought together as a collection of autographs. They include nine in French from Eugène Sue, the novelist, to Camille Pleyel, the piano manufacturer, mostly personal correspondence, [1830x1851] (ff. 9-26), and one from Mélanie, wife of Metternich, the Austrian Chancellor, to an unnamed count, concerning her brother, 1854 (ff. 5-6).
There are also letters in English from Charles Bradlaugh, politician, to Emile Hatzfeld, music publisher, regarding political and religious matters, 1882 (ff. 1-2), Robert Browning to a Mrs Stanley, 1882 (f. 3), W. E. Gladstone to J. M. Davidson, 1888 (f. 4), the Marquess of Salisbury to Edouard Silas, composer, [c. 1860] (watermark 1858) (ff. 7-8), and Alfred Tennyson, to Silas, 1863 (ff. 27-28).

Addresses relating to the political scene in Wales, written by Saunders Lewis on behalf of his daughter, Mair Saunders Jones, the donor; three are from the late 1940s and another from the 1950s.

A manuscript volume, [1747x1748], written by an unidentified scribe, entitled 'A Catalogue of the Representatives in Parliament for the Counties & Boroughs In Wales From the first returns of them A[nn]o 1542 to this present Parliament Conven[e]d A[nn]o 1747' (f. 4), listing the Members of Parliament of all county and borough seats in Wales, with the exception of Monmouthshire and Monmouth (ff. 5-62).
The seats are listed alphabetically by county with MPs then listed chronologically by monarch and regnal year; the Parliaments of the Commonwealth and Protectorate periods are omitted.
