Broadcasting Council for Wales I

The box mainly consists of letters received by GTH as Chairman of Broadcasting Council for Wales and BBC Governor, including some letters relating to the Literature Committee of the Welsh Arts Council (GTH was its Chairman). The correspondents include Leo Abse, D. L. Carey-Evans, Gwynfor Evans, Raymond Garlick, Emlyn Hooson, Thomas Parry, Alwyn D. Rees, Prof. T. A. Roberts, R. Bryn Williams, and the BBC management. Also includes a paper by GTH on Broadcasting in Wales, which gave a reflection at the end of his first year (1972) and a conference folder relating to a BBC General Advisory Council conference held at Ditchley Park in 1975.

Papers and correspondence of Broadcasting Council for Wales relating to the Crawford Committee on Broadcasting Coverage and the Fourth Channel debate (Sir John Eden), including reports and evidence submitted. Also papers relating to a reply by Broadcasting Council for Wales to a proposal made by the Welsh Language Society in 1971 regarding broadcasting in Wales.

Diaries

Diaries for 1931-1940, 1943, 1946-1959-60 (two for 1936 and 1938 and none for 1941, 1942, 1944 and 1945). Journals were kept between May 1942 and September 1944 (1 vol.), July-September 1945 (2 vols), and August-November 1946 (1 vol.).

Tegla Davies, 1880-1967), including letters, 1940-1966, from Tegla to GTH and some addressed to GTH's father; articles / press cuttings written by or relating to Tegla, including a letter and postcard from Tegla to Rev. D. Llewelyn-Jones; a signed portrait photograph of Tegla (1927); a volume consisting of a brief transcript of Tegla's diary for 1907-1923; and copies of articles written by GTH on Tegla.

Hughes, Glyn Tegai

Gregynog

Papers relating to Gregynog Hall, including some historical records. Glyn Tegai Hughes was appointed in 1964 as the first warden of Gregynog Hall after Margaret Davies gifted Gregynog to the University of Wales in 1960.

Gwasg Gregynog

Papers relating to Gwasg Gregynog. Although Gregynog Press was founded in 1922, the press was re-established under the Welsh title Gwasg Gregynog by the University of Wales in 1978, and production resumed. Glyn Tegai Hughes was instrumental in this work and retired in 1989.

Islwyn

Research papers relating to Islwyn (William Thomas, 1832-1878). Glyn Tegai Hughes published 'Islwyn' (as part of the series Dawn dweud) by Gwasg Prifysgol Cymru, Cardiff in 2003.

Letters I

Consists of two bundles of letters from GTH to his father and aunt; a folder containing a bundle of letters received between 1937 and 1947; and folders containing letters from Reg Trueman, 1942-1960; Dudley Wilson, 1943-1995; Briar Rowley, 1947-1988; and Tom Hooson, 1954-1964.

Letters II

Consists of folders containing letters from Edward Arnold (Publishers) Ltd., 1958-1985; Emlyn Hooson, 1992-2013; Hugh Toller, 2001-2010; and David Barnes, 2003, with drafts of his chapter on Montgomeryshire.
