Trystan Edwards to the Council of the County Borough of Merthyr Tydfil; Edgar Chappell's proposals on local government reorganization, which he put forward at a meeting of the Cymmrodorion at Pontypridd in October 1942; papers, 1942-4, including correspondence and minutes, relating to the Post War Reconstruction Committee of the Glamorgan County Council; and a report, c. 1944, by the South Wales Committee of the Communist Party, entitled 'South Wales after the War'.

Bound typescript copies and two prefatory memoranda of reports on housing and social conditions in Aberavon and Port Talbot, Merthyr Tydfil, Neath, Newport, the Rhondda and the Swansea Valley. These 'Urban Investigation' reports were compiled by Chappell during his work with Herbert Stanley Jevons on economic conditions in south Wales.

Typescript reports relating to Chappell's investigations on behalf of the Ministry of Health into the management of house property, including the accounts of his numerous interviews with the personnel of local councils and housing associations throughout Britain. There are also letters and papers concerning Octavia Hill's system of management of working-class property by trained ladies and a circular pamphlet produced by the Ministry of Health entitled Housing, &c. Act, 1923.

Chappell's copies of correspondence and minutes of meetings of the South Wales Regional Survey Committee, together with an index of the documents issued by him as Secretary.
