Family papers and estate records of the Williams family of Cwmcynfelyn, Cardiganshire, comprising rentals, 1833-[1885], valuations, [1849]-1879, financial papers, 1826-1899, deeds of the Cwmcynfelyn estate in north Cardiganshire, and in the parish of Machynlleth, Montgomeryshire 1773-1886, deeds relating to Penpompren in Llanfihangel Genau'r-glyn, 1724-1791 (including a schedule of deeds dating back to 1694), which probably found their way to Cwmcynfelyn through the marriage of Matthew Davies Williams of Cwmcynfelyn and Susanna Griffith in 1828; papers relating to the Donisthorpe and Mapperley collieries, Leicestershire, 1874-1899; papers relating to the Gogerddan estate, Cardiganshire, accumulated by George Griffiths Williams as agent until his retirement, 1852-1895; and personal papers of Mathew Davies Williams, 1821-1864.

Pre-nuptial settlement of 1 and 2, being an appointment of an annuity of £150 for the life of 2 after the death of 1 (£100 should she remarry). Recites the post-nuptial settlement, dated 29 Oct. 1766, of the said William Knighton and Elizabeth his wife. Attested copy, 15 Feb. 1792.

Deed relating to Samuel Cotton, and including reference to the sale of goods and chattels, attendance on the JPs in the Quarter Sessions or otherwise for the said hundreds, an Act for the Relief of Debtors, 32 Geo. II [1758-9], and attendance on the sheriff and undersheriff. Not executed. Fragment. Endorsed: notes of examination in a cause in the Chancery side of the Court of Great Sessions, between Griffith and Symon etc., 13 April 1787. See also no. AE 8.

Letters, mainly to George Griffiths Williams, including from George Edward Checkland, his brother in law, and manager of the Donisthorpe and Mapperley collieries. The letters include 'the Durham strike is a good thing for the Welsh & Yorkshire coal owners but does not seem to help us in the least', 1892 (AF 33), a recommendation to destroy all papers relating to a former family trust before the matter reaches the Chancery courts, 1893 (AF 43), and a draft letter written on the back of a printed electoral register for p. Llechryd, co. Card., [late 19 cent.] (AF 60).

Recipe book of Susanna Griffiths, including culinary and medicinal recipes, country wines and metheglyn. The volume also contains a sketch of a tour from London through Essex, Norfolk, Suffolk, Northamptonshire, Yorkshire and co. Durham, to Alnwick, Northumberland, 1824. At the back of the volume there is a copy lease for a year by John Evans, gent., to John Williams, of a m. and lands called Waunfechan, p. Dolgellau, co. Mer., 1824, and a copy notice to Edward Morgan to quit Tymawr, p. Machynlleth, co. Mont., 1827.
