Newspaper cuttings

Two note books containing paste-down newspaper cuttings. The first contains cuttings from the [Essex Standard, ?1835], consisting of a series of letters addressed to the editor of that paper by 'A Liberal Conservative' on the subject of 'Dissenters' Grievances', and the second a series of cuttings [?from the same newspaper, 1834] comprising an article entitled 'The Changes in the poor laws. A conversation in the allotment field between a labourer, a minister, and a farmer on the changes in the laws relating to the poor'. The second volume also contains manuscript notes relating to the poor laws extracted from contemporary printed sources, ?in the hand of the Rev. Hector Davies Morgan.
