A file of early compositions including the following: (i) an essay (draft) entitled 'Y Daioni mae y gwahanol greaduriaid asgellog yn ei wneuthur i ddyn'; (ii) 'An Historical Essay upon "Llangadock and Its Neighbourhood By "Hanesydd", one of the Subjects of the Llangadog Eisteddvod June 25th 1878'; (iii) an article (draft) entitled 'The Welsh Peasantry'; (iv) a novelette (no title) beginning with a Prologue by the Rev. John Rhys, Vicar of Aberfawr; (v) a copy of Y Dydd, 29 Oct. 1869, containing a letter written by the Rev. Evan Evans formerly of Nantyglo, 13 Oct. 1869, on the occasion of his departure for America, with some verses attributed to his son, Beriah [Gwynfe Evans]; (vi) a number of circulars sent out by Beriah Gwynfe Evans, 1880, inviting orders for Bronwen in the proposed Gwynfe Novels Series. The circulars were sent to other schoolmasters. (vii) A number of letters, 1884, to Beriah Gwynfe Evans from various publishers including Messrs D. Duncan & Sons, South Wales Daily News and Cardiff Times, Cardiff, relating to his literary work. There is also on letter, 1886, from John A. Williams, Guardian Office, Llanelli. (viii) A few letters and papers, 1890, relating to The Society for Utilizing the Welsh Language; (ix) an exercise-book marked 'Dinorwic Quarry' containing a transcript of, or extracts from, 'Cof Lyfr, sef ychydig o goffadwriaethau am Ardal Glanybala a'r amgylchoedd cyfagos sef yn fwyaf priodol am y cloddfeydd llechi sef yr amser y dechreuwyd eu gweithio gan y boneddigion ynghydag amryw bethau eraill buddiol yw eu gwybod i'r oesoedd dyfodol, &c. Gan Gruffydd Ellis Goruchwyliwr y Cloddfeydd am 48 mlynedd (written 1853)'.
